Breakeven 6max player
edzwoo, May 14 2009
So I was messing around with my HEM database, checking out the reports tab. Under, "Winnings Summary," one thing caught my eye. Over 32k hands of NL100 6max, I was a totally breakeven player.
End results were -$22.70. I think I might be a really bad player since I could only breakeven over 30k hands, but that's fine with me. I graphed it and it was pretty funny, and seeing as I haven't played 6max in a long time, I figure I'd share it with you guys.

Seriously, what could have caused me to be so breakeven?
Heads up practice!
edzwoo, May 11 2009
It's been a while since my last blog post, but that's because I didn't play poker for a period of about 3-4 weeks. Summer is coming up in about a week, and I'm going to be playing a ridiculous amount then, so I've been taking a break from the typical 12-tabling grind... HOWEVER, I transferred about $500 over to FTP, mainly because I needed to give rakeback to some friends, and I kinda wanted to play some SNGs and heads up (watched the pr1nnyraiding series on deucescracked). The pot button is really nice when making a lot of 3bets.
rs.wisdom told me one way to get better at hand reading is to play heads up, and I definitely could understand why. It's pretty funny how some people will constantly do the same exact thing with whatever hand they have i.e. draws, nuts. It's REALLY funny when you can tell someone is going on massive tilt and spewing a ton of chip to you. NL50 HU on FTP is pretty hilarious in general, seeing as it's the lowest HU stakes and there are a ton of fish that just want to come in and essentially want to flip with you (fold until you have a hand lol).
Anyways, here are some graphs. That nasty -4bi session was mostly because I was 6tabling as opposed to 2-4 tabling. 4 seems to be my limit, which is pretty funny since I can actually play 24 FR tables. EV is accurate in the sense that I had this awesome suckout, but it's because I'm so awesome at getting trips or two pair allin vs a flush and spiking a boat or quads on the river. Probably happened like 3 times so far. Red line is sad because... fish try to win every pot!

April + future plans
edzwoo, Apr 30 2009
This month was awesome, and it wasn't because of poker. Actually, pokerwise it was extremely lame. Here's the graph:
Yup, only played 12k hands and I'm a 12 tabler. I went through a bunch of hands and there are a few I played horribly, but I mostly ran bad. I checked my database and got KK vs AA 5 times and AA vs KK 0 times, so either people are soul reading me or I just ran a little bad O_O.
But anyways, I haven't been playing much poker because I've been working on the poker club I started at my school and other poker related things. Here's a few things I've been doing:
1. I emailed PokerStarsPartners (PokerStars' affiliate website) if they were willing to help provide for the club this upcoming semester, and they pretty much said they'd be glad to do so. Obviously I'd have to be promoting them somehow, so I outlined a small business plan and how I'd go about doing so. They said they were interested and to provide them with more info when the club launches next semester.
2. Emailed CardRunners support to try and contact Taylor Caby about the club since he's a graduate of my school. He quickly responded to me personally in only a few hours and said he was going to come down to U of I to give a speech for a business class. He also said it would be cool to meet up sometime while he was down. I went down there with rS.Wisdom (same school) and we met Taylor and chatted with him a bit. He's a really, really nice guy, and you can tell he is genuinely interested in any conversation you have with him. He said he'd be glad to help out next year, and even do some CardRunners stuff. By the way, what are some good vids to watch on the site?
3. Contacted the team that I work with for my site (great guys, you can look up their services at heathmont.net). They said they'd definitely be willing to work on a site for the poker club, so I won't have some ghetto webpage that I made via my own obsolete HTML.
4. Emailed Barry Greenstein to try and get him to come as well, since he's also a graduate of my school. He responded but he didn't really seem interested .

Anyways, you see the poker club as part of the UIUC student organization here:
http://www.union.uiuc.edu/involvement/rso/a-z_list.aspx
It's listed under Athletic/Recreation, and the club is called "Illini Poker Club". You can also see it if you look under the letter "I".
School is about to end, and I'm pretty much devoting this entire summer to poker. I'm going to be working on my own game, the club, as well as my site. I've been donking around at NL100 for a while now, but I just haven't been putting the hours in, and I've been cashing out a bit, something I thought I would never do until I hit NL200. You can expect me to become extremely active on the forums in about a month.
Good luck at the tables!
PS: For all of you who haven't read rockman's blog, gogogo
Proof that you can turn from a 24-tabler nutpeddler into a 8 tabling monster.

Eddie,
Hey, this is Taylor. Would you mind sending me an email to xxxx@xxxx.com? I'd be glad to come hang out at the club. Actually, there was some sort of "unofficial" U of I poker club (at the time I thought it was real though but apparently it wasn't) where people met and played 10nl. I went a few times in 2002/2003 during my freshman year.
Anyway, shoot me an email and we can discuss.
Best,
Taylor

I started a poker club here at UIUC. You would think that when people like Barry Greenstein and Taylor Caby graduate from here, it would have already been made, right?
Anyways, the main objective is to teach people how to play poker and have discussions (lolz liquidpoker). I'll definitely have critics since I'm not so narrow minded to think I'm anywhere close to being the best player on campus; but I believe I'm qualified to teach new players basic concepts. In the beginning of next semester, I'm going to ask you guys for help on running this thing, so expect a few threads in the Main Poker section in a month or so.
Sooooooo... with about 50,000 students, and thousands of people walking through the quad during Quad Day (where all the clubs are advertised in the quad)...
...how many signups would I get?

I WAS PLAYING SERIOUSLY LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
A bit tilted.
edzwoo, Apr 06 2009
Was definitely tilting towards the end because people kept turning and rivering stuff midway.

+ Show Spoiler +
was tilting. Can't really fold it but I was 90% sure he boated up. Even though it's a cooler, I was tilting.
I wasn't tilting because of the bad beats, but some pots that I haven't shown I made very, very poor decisions without thinking. There were some 3-4bet pots that I played very poorly in because I had 15 tables open. I also was making valuebets vs fish when I clearly had less than 50% equity vs their hand range without thinking, and making extremely poor calls. The extra 3 tables when I go from 12 -> 15 tables absolutely DESTROYS my winrate
Anyways, I'm still up for the month, and will be coming back to kill the tables later. I'll compensate for this blog post by having a monster session later.
