here's the old graph extended with the latest results. you can see a definite improvement happening. lately i've been running really good though. definetely upswinging. Even when plays go wrong, i am hitting my outs and shit. So far im meeting my challenge. In the last 12k since i set my goals i'm running on 12.9 bb/100 so i hope to be able to continue this over a decent sample..
I almost went into insta-tilt when the villain who took 8 buyins off me yesterday looked me up and joined my table this evening. He is fucking looking for me. #)$&%@)&fucksake he is the fish here! I should be looking for him!! And so greedy.. is 8 buyins not enough??! you need to find me. Am i a fucking ATM?? wel guess again because he started stomping on me almost right away. Some hands i should say WP because he bluffs me off a big pot in some other spots he gets lucky, thats my overall feeling though that he is doing some things right and running hot but doing a lot of things wrong. Judge for yourself..
here i have 1010 and i 3bet, he calls and i flop an A, so that sucks. definetely since he like calling my 3bets with a variety of Ax yesterday i saw one as low as A4. he also likes floating in 3bet pots
on the other hand he folds a lot on A hi boards in 3bet pots so maybe
the river is just a fold? http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/738239
he was 3betting me a lot, and i didn't do this often since he is in the
habit of calling my 4bets quite often(not always but a lot) but today
he was really firing up the 3bet%, much higher then yesterday so i figured my bluff had more chance of success. i get some of my own
medicine. i really don't like his bluff though. first he has to invest
such a lot with a bad easily dominated hand to see a flop and then he
has to raise almost his stack to move me off a K hi flop. he probably did it because he thinks im not 4betting KQ (which im not ) to me this feels like he will lose a lot of money on this move longterm?
i mean im not 4betting him all the time. like this when it's a little deeper it's mostly with 1010+ and AK, AQ and then some Ax or Kx bluffs now and then. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/738237
here is another annoying hand that shows you how annoying this guy can be. he was calling me a lot in 3bet pots and floating so i thought this
move on the turn was +EV and would definetely hellp me in future 3bet
pots. it might have helped but this time it backfired...
it did give me better insight in how he plays draws in 3bet pots though. confirmed he calls down.
a few hands later.. wtf im i supposed to do? you know something about his tendencies by now. do you barrel here? not c-bet? HELP!! http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/738235
then i got my break when his tendency to call down with draws backfires on him, when he makes his straight but i make the nuts. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/738245
ofcourse there was some action in between but then i finished him off for today with this one. at last all those failed bluffs are good for something.
Here he quits me, gave me back 2 or 2.5 buyins i think. i can only hope he will give me another chance tomorrow or something. I feel that know i have looked so detailed into this match and have some better reads i have a solid edge.
p.s
thnx a lot for the comments on the hands. i can't believe nobody likes yeserday's 5c6c bluff though :S
i played a long match against this guy and i got absolutely killed. maybe i lost something like 8 buyins. usually i quit people 3 down but a friend was sweating me and i didnt feel like i played
bad or was tilting at all and i thought he was pretty bad. he played about 60% of hands IP and OOP and was pretty passive, only at the river his agression picked up but i honestly think this was
due to the fact he was just hitting everything so fucking hard. if he ever made moves they were pretty rare i think. and the times i suspected him off this i couldnt do anything about it. i just went
over the biggest hands to see what went wrong. in some spots i look a little iffy. plz let me know
if you have any comments!
other then this match i've been doing fairly good. -8bi to one guy hurts though. surely it;s not good
for my bb/100.
i have been 4betting him with some frequency and i think there is absolutely nothing i can do here then bet for value. so seems fine.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/738073
we were both 3betting between 15-20% depending on the point of the match. he opens about 68%. he called about 50% of 3bets. usually he just called when he hit in 3bet pots. and he also floated a bit as he folded to some 2nd barrels. or maybe then he just made a weak connection.
this was his 1st raise in 3bet pots i think and i put him on quite some air, draws. but thats
not what he ended up having unfortunately.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/738075
a bluff gone wrong. this was relatively early in the match. at this point he 3betted 15% and from the possible range. the minraise i saw him use before on a drawy board and the board in general i was really confident i could get him off is pair + gutshot, draw and optimistically i even expected him to consider folding something like QJ though i knew that hand was going to call me down
usually. but i thought there were enough hands i could get to fold. i overbet the river because i expected him to fold an Arag, maybe QJ and any second pair+gutshot to this bigger size and
thought he would maybe make some odd calls when i just tried to fold out draws. also i think it's
more consistent with me trying to sell a 2pair or straight here. but maybe i would have raised the
flop with those? do you like this bluff?
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/738076
4betted him the hand right before this one. i was down a TON to him and i thought it was +EV to
get this in.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/738078
maybe this is a bad call? he shoved the flop, i put a lot of draws in his range. i have the nutFD and
against 78 type of hands i have a K highcard. i didnt know Arag was in his 3bet call range. really cant believe this didnt help me at any point but instead cost me a buyin. because i think calling my
3bets with Arag is really -EV.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/738087
he was giving quite some resistance in 3bet pots and i suspected i should give him some more heat because he called my 3bets a little too wide imo. since i made it consist of mostly a value
range with maybe 20% bluffs. so i was setting this up to shove the river but the river was so
bad i gave up.
off to the music festival i blogged about in the past. check out the songs i put up. after that i play in some live events. looking forward to that. quite a big deal over here. summer classics! will report about everything later. graph starts to show some potential :S it includes the last graph but just continues. ok give them hell this weekend and have fun!
Really drunk right now. Just returned from an afternoon of beer's at the café followed up by a night of beer's with friends. promised to put up some hands so here we go!
Filtered my hh's for the past week and came up with the biggest winners and losers. I want to show you the suckouts and shit as well as it is very boring to look through a bunch of coolers. In case i spewed horribly it's more fun so let's hope there is some of that as well... no idea what i'm going to put here but let's see.
wow, in retrospect this is so spewy by him. must have been an agressive match. i think i 4bet him a lot because he made a lot of those annoying small 3bets. when he 5bet i just shoved because i thought it would look weakest and there were a lot of flops where he would get away from whatever.. didnt expect him to stack this light.. http://www.liquidpoker.net/mytlnet/myhand.php?view=item&id=731327
ok some hands by me that are really really bad. a few of them i didnt remember and it's quite embarassing to put them here.. :S anyway. if you have any comments on how i could improve how i played these hands thanks a lot. hope you enjoyed looking through my winners and losers and good night.
Since i've set myself the challenge to attain 10bb/100 at 100nl Headsup i have played approximately 10 days. The first few days i've updated results daily. These are the results of the last 7 days.
I learned a lot this week. I've been watching a lot of videos and making some adjustments to my game. I blogged about some of them before. I think overall i've been playing really solid. There have been two villains who i've lost 6 buyins too. I think both of them were huge fishes and in the long run i should easily make 10bb/100 on them but it wasn't to be.
I think i should improve my game in 3bet and 4bet pots by a lot. As you can see in the hands i posted in the forum and from the commentary i got on them. Will work on it.
The results so far have been really bad. It's only about 10k worth of hands so the sample is actually quite small and some big hands have had mayor impact upon my results.
In the report section you can see though that i've been running pretty bad in the all-in situation. I don't usually pay much attention too any other lines then the profit line but i have a question about non-showdown winnings (the red line) it steadily goes down and shows a loss for me. This is just style dependent right? And i should be able to win whether it's positive or negative?
Hope to be able to show better results soon and in the meantime i am still trying to get better. Might make a video soon and if i have more time this weekend i will make a post about my 10 biggest losers and winners or something.
Crushed a guy today who was up on me quite some buyins. He calls 90% of opens so it wasn't meant to last forever. and it didn't! Perseverance pays off. It's nice though he gives me action almost every day, hope it continues now that i'm up.
I did my internship at a large dutch publishing company. The mothership of 80% of well known literary publishers here. At one point my department set up the site for this writer called Arnon Grunberg. He may or may not be translated into your languages. He lives in NY, but he visited the Netherlands to do a tour with a goat on ship. I met him at the kick-off party of his tour through the Netherlands.
And i'm sure he doesnt remember this. I still read his blog now and then. I came upon this post that is pretty funny. Think of it, when you're having a bad day. It goes on for a little bit but you can read about that in his full blog.
A while ago a friend sent me an e-mail. “Somebody called me a professional loser,” he wrote.
“Who is this person?” I asked.
My friend answered: “A wise man. I'm paying this man to talk to me.”
“You mean a psychoanalyst?” I asked.
“Yes,” my friend answered.
“Listen,” I wrote back, “the most important word in this sentence is ‘professional’. You are a professional; you know what you are doing. You are much more than the average loser. Losing is what you are good at. You should concentrate on the word ‘professional’.”
just wanted to let you know that in my quest to improve. i made some changes in the strategy. i implemented a stop loss. if i lose 3 buy-ins to a single opponent, i will quit him no matter what.
this took me a long while to decide because i think there are disadvantages. i'ts very much possible in a somewhat active HU to get 3 buyins behind to an opponent you think you have a very big edge on. and while losing you do gain some information about your opponent and you may have established a favourable image to get paid off in the near future.
on the other hand. i might be steaming a little bit more then is optimal. then there is the theory of the information disadvantage. i don't remember where i read this. i thought it was deucescracked. in a nutshell the article said that when you are losing hard to an opponent in headsup. it's very likely that he gains a lot of information about the "bottom of your range" in certain spots where you learn nothing about his because he is showing all "top of his range" cards that anyone would have played like that.
another adjustment is that i'm going to tighten up from the BB. i am defending a little bit too light i think. my range is probably good against opponents who open 80%+ on the button but what i found out the last couple of days is that most of my opponents actually open about 60%-65%. they are pretty tight in position. and i think i gave them too much action. i did tighten up against these villains but not enough.
ha, games have been going fairly well the last couple of days. though my feeling is i'm a long way off from reaching 10bb/100 at 100nl right now. i think so because the swings have been fairly large and i don't feel like i'm crushing the games. like i used to feel or how i feel at 50nl. i do think i'm a winner just not a big winner yet. still working on it. Daily updates got kind of boring. So i'll update in a few days, with a weekly or something. So i can show whether i'm making any progress to the 10bb/100 mark.
I've posted some hands in the forum and got some good comments on misplayed hands, so i think i'll be posting some more.
Moving on beyond poker. I got my hands on a ticket for a big music festival(LOWLANDS) here in the Netherlands. It's a 3 day deal with camping out and all. 60.000 visitors and everything. it was sold-out before i returned from Argentina but thanks to my flatmate, props to her, i got one off the black market. I'm already pretty stoked about it. I'm putting some of my favs up for you guys.
ex-singer the knife.
more or less hip hop
this one is also going to show up, but i'm sure you're all familiar
Ok booooooooyzz i'm off to the gym. I'll be back at the tables in like two hours. If anyone wants some practice games at 50nl HU where we help each other out finding leaks and such find me. (Pokerhaasje) or drop me your msn here. And thanks to all the people taking the time to comment on hands. Big help. cu later.
