Turned 25 yesterday. Spent the day with my family and my girlfriend. I did not wish for much so I got a new hoodie and a bunch of books. My gf got me a "one piece". I've yet to try it on.
Still feeling slightly stressed out due to a bunch of crap I have to do, mostly related to moving and such.
Actually finally up a couple of buy ins for the month which feels good. Learning to 15-table just to get my supernova status within a reasonable time frame and I'm doing surprisingly good with that. Started tightening up my game and upping the aggression to kind of adjust to playing more tables and trying to play hands in a "simple and solid" way rather then doing a bunch of FPS. It's really fun to play tight because you get away with all kinds of crap when you're having a bit tighter stats.
Hoping to get supernova, get even more solid with mass tabling and get a small mid stakes roll together at about the same time as I hit supernova and then find a good way to do a solid hourly with "reasonable" variance. Gotta acquire more monies to put into investment to get a passive income. I want to be able to live of passive income without doing much before I turn 40.
Going to move soon. Decided "for sure" or whatever that'll we'll move to Sundsvall in a few months. Basically going to be a a good boyfriend and help my girlfriend finish her degree and try to get a bunch of stuff done until then. Doing ok but not good with poker, it's not really embarrassing anymore but I'm obviously not content with it. Hoping to get to supernova sometime this summer and then play mid stakes this fall getting some volume in. If it goes badly I'll get a job of some kind after the summer and if it works out fine I might try to go for supernova elite next year. That's basically the main plan. Not really giving a crap about winrates and such before that, but it'd be nice to figure out how to play NL again. PLO going ok despite me having some huge leaks for deep play that I corrected fairly well after some study. Nl going weird, people vlauebets much more thin then I remembered. I think I'll have to start adjusting a bit.
Getting really itchy to take up BJJ or MMA or whatever again, so going to do that when I have moved. Thinking of maybe trying some Judo to for the take downs or some kind of stand up art.
Working out, playing poker and not really doing much except for that sounds like a good thing for me. Getting a long time plan done for my life, or at least some ideas about it.
Since my change of site I've been feeling good. Played a lot of hands (22k in a week), did decent in some Sunday tournament and was fairly close to make a good score and thanks to gold/silver prices I've made a bit of money despite not actually playing at any decent limits in poker. I'm super excited about my girl getting a job in her home town up in Sundsvall since that means that I don't have to put that much money into buying a house but rather can buy something cheap or rent something and then put a ton of money into investments. Going really crazy with my investment profile and let's just say I'm rooting for a higher gold price...
Going to try to get like 50k hands in next month despite it being fairly clogged up with stupid stuff I need to do. Got some fairly reasonable goals as far as hands goes and I might actually get a year with a decent amount of volume in, which would serve very good as an indicator on the topic of "Can Dusty still cut it in poker?". I dunno. Anyway;
This was pretty fun:

Proxy stuff is cool.
I'm really looking forward to the Strikeforce event this weekend. Might be really cool. Go Ronda!
I saw Arlo Guthrie live a few days ago. The guy is fucking awesome. He's funny as hell and he can sing a whole bunch of different things really good.
"Comming into Los Angeles"
"St. James Infirmary" (classic old blues standard)
"Evangelina" (Crappy country)
"This land is your land" (his dad's most known song)
In my darkest hour (great song)
Check him out if you have the chance. The guy seems like a soberish version of that guy in that film with the dude from the Big Lebowski and that guy that was in Miami Vice.
For this first time in something like 4 years I did not manage to make 100k€. I wasn't even close. That sucks less then you'd think.
I came really close to make a ton of money a bunch of times. I lost KK vs 99 for ~half the chips in play in the main event of the Swedish online poker championships and busted for 3k€ instead of 100k+ in first place money (it's top heavy, heh). I had a few good months and then I had a bunch of bad ones.
I played far to little, I did not study the game enough and I took some bad decisions regarding bankroll management (tilt cashing out, playing to high on a tight roll etc) and overall I underperformed. One bad year does not equal a trend, and I've figured out what I did wrong and how to fix it.
What did I do wrong?
- I did not play enough.
- I did not study enough.
- I took bad decisions.
Motivation is hard to come by sometimes. However, a friend called me and offered me a position as a "team pro member" on their site and now I'm doing a ton of cool stuff to make the most of it. I'll coach 10-15 people starting in less then 2 weeks and I'm very motivated to make sure that they'll be happy with it. I'll make sure to watch a video a day, spend at least 3 hours each day playing or studying poker and I'll cut out crap from my life that I don't need. Everything I do should be focused on the following:
- Becoming a better Poker player and poker coach.
- Getting back in some kind of reasonable shape.
- Being a good boyfriend.
- Passing a few exams.
- Turn this "team pro"-thingy with Bettingboys.com into something really good.
I'm done with my law degree, but I'm taking some philosophy classes while waiting for my girl to get hers so that we can move away. I'm fairly sure I'll stop drinking and I'll make sure to eat healthier, I've really slacked in that department lately and it sucks.
For the 3rd year in a row poker in December has been horrible. That kind of sucks but everything usually gets brighter when the new year starts.
Here's a few things I'm grateful for:
When I got signed by Bettingboys.com I got an idea about how to make really affordable group coaching possible and for the last week I've been getting people interested and so far I've got about 10 people in total for 3 or different groups. This will be very cheap and aimed mostly to people who plays fairly low, something like NL/PLO20 and up till 1/2.
My plan to begin with was to make 2 groups, one for omaha in Swedish and one in English. Due to much more demand then I thought I'll do it like this:
1. Omaha in Swedish - group coaching
2. Omaha in English - group coaching
3. A No Limit studygroup in English where we'll spend slightly more time on hand discussions and such relative to the amount of theory
4. NL in Swedish - group coaching
Depending on how many people who'll sign up this following week I might turn group 3 and 4 into one big group or do something cool with that in some other way. I did not actually think that I'd get so much requests for NL considering how I haven't played it very much the last year or so but apparently people feel that my poker mind is good enough so that they'll get a lot from picking it anyway. I got really excited when I found this out and decided that I'll get back to grinding both games actually just to learn it better so that I will not disappoint anyone. If anyone (only non-US, sorry ) wants to join just send me a PM and I'll get back to you at some point before New Years (but probably a lot sooner).
I'm really excited to try and teach some of the things I've learned in my 5+ years of online poker, not primarily theory and such (even though there'll be lots of that too!) but mostly stuff that has to do with the right mind set, the correct ways of thinking and such. I haven't really had much that I've been feeling super excited for in a while but this might be one of those things I'll get a lot of fulfilment from.
I'll also have a few other cool projects going on as their new "team pro"/blogger and if I find something with decent value I'll be sure to keep you posted.
3. Despite becoming a fat fuck (not to worry, I'll get back in the gym after X-mas. 2012 will be less hectic) I'm fairly healthy and no one in my family died or got seriously ill this year. That's a first one in a while.
I don't know how much I'll be at the computer during X-mas but I'll try to answer stuff as soon as I can.
