Within my first 10 hands, this is the third times it happens. I start my session and 2-3 hands later i get stacked set over set on my first flopped set. Got stacked being favorite 9 to 1 at nl 100 too. I don't tilt anymore but i seriously start to worry for my bankroll -16 bis start to hurt and i wonder if i'll go broke playing good till the end lmao.

Edit: dropped 60$ in donkaments bis, KK lose to 56o and KK lose to QJo within 5 minutes, cash out or break ?

fuck me no more donkaments
  Sheitan, Mar 23 2008

From now i'll stick to cash games only, i've wasted like 1k in bis already and can't score big for shit, 4h-5h of solid play and your stack is all gone in one crucial hand and get paid what i can make within 100 hands of cash games.

1- it slows my br growth
2- it's such a waste of time you should only register in the bigger one imo
3- luck takes a huge part in scoring big

Frustration
  Sheitan, Mar 12 2008

This game is frustrating the shit out of me, i can't score in an mtt except winning these shitty 4$ 180, can't win a godamn mother fucking donkament. Play str8 solid for 5 hours only to get knock out and win 50$ -_-

Cash games are frustrating as well, make profit only to lose it the next day due to massive coolers/suck out. I know i shouldn't be ranting but i swear i wish i could run good for a short period just to have some faith and confidence back, my game is not the greatest for sure and i do realize it, but i think i could ez beat my current limit if only the deck would stop defecate on my head...

Now what's my plan ?

lol donkaments
  Sheitan, Feb 29 2008

Since cash games don't go my way recently i've decided to switch to tourneys and mtts (standard). I feel like there's a goal to attain: be the last man standing and overcome a large field of players.

While i think there's a huge part of luck involved, i find them mathematically interesting, you have to seize your stack every hand relatively to the pot and the other players' and some decisions are made that you would never make at cash games. What's very interesting is when you have a large stack and you start to bully the whole table this is really fun, reminds me when i was in school as a kid and i used to bully that poor skinny guy ... good ol' times.

So i think im gonna focus on these and if i feel like going to the casino i will probably go back in the coming weeks since it's so profitable. I really love this game, it's such a complex and interesting game i think a lifetime wouldn't guarantee you know everything about it. Millions of situations, choices and outcomes possibles it fucking blow my mind. I can't stand how some players are gifted at it but im obviously not but i don't care since im having a lot of fun.

Anyways here in Canada the snow is still annoying the shit out of me and put me on perma-tilt and when i think it will last for an additionnal month i want to fucking blow my head off, my wife and me think we won't stay here and probably go back in France in a couple of years since this country is so damn snowy and cold, we are not used to 5 months of it. We'll be french-canadians so we will be able to switch whenever we feel like, which sounds good imo (taking the best of both).

If we have kids meanwhile, they'll have both nationalities and will be able to do the same. Now i need to get out of my house because my lovely half needs to make some grocery, but first i need to fucking remove all the snow in front of the house so i can drive her to town... fuck you winter.

Here are some stats of my tourneys adventures, i think i have an edge (small) at 180s 4$ and plan to grind them for a bit just out of curiosity.

Cheers guys.

LIVE sentence of the month
  Sheitan, Feb 05 2008

So im playing nl200 cash game live for a fourth session and this guy at my table is thinking about calling or not a huge bet, he called and that other guy said: "Hey man, you had to call here, you're the chip leader !"

I dunno if i was crying or laughing, maybe i was doing both at the same time. Dunno if it's because the poker tables are new in Montreal but i swear to god this place is the 4th dimension poker wise.

LIVE ! report 2
  Sheitan, Jan 26 2008

On thursday, i could not go to the casino due to an accident where my car slided and collided front to front with an other car. Nobody was injured and even tho i have some back pain now i don't think it's related to the accident whatsoever.

So i decided to go after work on friday, figured out friday would be more fishy, like saturday and sunday (and caturday too obv). I jumped into my car and drove to the casino, i waited for like 20 mn then i got affected to a table.

I bought in for 100$ since i really wanted to diminish variance, i only have like 500$ live br and i wouldn't want to go busto on a bad run. The table was once again a mix of stations and 2 decent players who i always identify asap, both were on my right and i had position on them, will serve me a lot in the next hours. One of them is pretty lag while the other other is a complete nit, the lag guy has 1k$ stack, the nit 500$.

An old guy has 600$ish and the rest are 100-200 regular stacks. The first orbits i keep folding my rags and pay attention on how they're playing, like usual the old guy is very bad, overbet the flop in many occasion and run bad bluffs... but he also ran so hot he was near spontaneous combustion. He flopped 3 boats and 1 nut flush in like 100 hands, he was VERY confident and really thought he'd win all his hands.

I didn't know yet but he also never raise preflop, like ... never. Nada. 0% pfr. This hand made me realize how dangerous this guy was and how ridiculously hot he was running: i get AQo LP and i raise it to 12$ because of the two limpers, old guy called along with the lag player, last limper folded. Flop came TK5 with two spades, old guy checked, lag player checked i cbet for 25$, old guy insta called, lag folded. Turn is the 7s, old guy bet 55$ and i tank for a while, he was such a station and so bad but this was the first time he bet so weak, i just gave him credit for this one and when i folded he showed me AKss.

I was hummm, ok he just limp with AKs -_- i was happy no ace would come on the board or this retard would have taken all my stack. I really hate people limping with premium hands, they are like u-boat you don't realize what's going on before you're sinking.

Later he limped with aces in a 7 way pot and hit a boat, his stack went up to 1k$ i was amazed by his bad play and how lucky can people be at this game, this is disgusting.

A few orbits later came my first big pot, i grinded my way winning small pots to 180$, i had AKs on the button and raised it, SB called me along with 2 other people, flop went TJ5 rainbow. They all check i cbet, SB raised, others folded. I tank for a while and tried to get a read on him but i couldn't figure out how strong he was, raising me with 2 other guy in the hand i assumed he has at least TP, if not a set. I called, Turn is a Q, i hit the nuts. He checked, i bet 1/2 the pot to give him room for a bluff and a big raise if he actually had something, he raised me all-in i insta-called and he showed QJo. River bricked and i rake the pot.

My other big pot was i get KK LP and repop some guy who was saying to the whole table he was very good and commented everyone's plays and criticize and that he was a professional dealer for 3 years. Flop came Q85 rainbow he front push ai, i turbo-snap-720 degrees called and took his 200$, he reloaded to 100$ and didn't say a word for the next hour and left the table, ship it Mr pro.

I played for 9 hours str8 with no pause and result is a 550$ benefit. Won some small pots, made good calls, made good folds. Once again live is incredibly soft in Montreal casino, this is like taking 100$ bills from a kid. These guys don't have a fucking clue on what's going on and they have a ton of money and are happy to give it to you. Im going back today, i start to love it.

Take care guys, Sheitan.

LIVE !
  Sheitan, Jan 24 2008

Okayy so i couldn't help myself, i had to go to the casino and see the new electronic table of poker. I had a plan: use a solid br management, so i bought in for half a bi at nl200.

First, lemme say that room kicks ass, never seen any other poker room, but this one was awesome. Yesterday we went with my lady and i just wanted to see what live looks like, and god is it soft.

Everything is electronic so i had to make a card and swap it so i could line up for the table, i waited like 10 minutes when i could see my name flashing on the screen, table 4 seat 5. I took my place and i really have to say i love it, seriously. I find it better than online, you can talk to the people at the table, have fun and really think about every hand, it's loooooooonnng but very fun. Or maybe it's because it's my first time ?

Anyway i bought for 100$ and the table was sick soft, i have 1 decent player on my right and 1 aggressive obv internet young player on my left, rest of the table is a mix of weak passive stations and donks.

So the first orbits i try to get used to the screen, you have to confirm every move, this is not a bad thing and avoid "misclick", funny part is you have an all-in button and you can use it to scare the shit out of people. I checked/raised all-in and tried to catch some reaction in many occasions.

Sooo, my plan was to play very TAG, with only half a bi i'd not make any move at all, don't abuse position and hope i hit a good run of card.

After a dozen of hands i fold i get AJs on position, already 3 limpers in the hand, i raise it to 14$, 1 fold, 1 call, 1 fold. Board came QT5 rainbow, he checked i cbet for 20$, he goes all-in. I fold after taking some time, he showed 44.

Nothing exciting happened before this hand, im utg+1 and i get dealt AKdd, loose player utg raised to 8$, i repop him to 24$, everybody folds and he called me. At this point i have like 50 bucks behind and he has 500$. Flop came ATJ with no flush, he tank for a while and checked, i bet 30 and by doing so im pot committed obviously. He started talking to me on what kind of hand i have and why i reraised him pre and maybe i had pocket aces then suddenly goes all-in.

In my mind it was obvious i was beat here, but this was also an automatic call, i only had 20 bucks left and i do hit the board, even if it was ugly and i was 110% beat it was a crying call. I called.

He showed JJ and i was already packing, turn is a Q. GG suckout, he tilted hard and berating me for calling such a board and i didn't even bother explaining i was pot committed and he should have front bet if he wanted me to fold and not check/raise me ai because if i bet, i have to call my last 20$. SOoooo im up to 150$.

This guy was tilting and it affected his play, he later gets involved in a pot with a donkey who was running like Jesus Christ wearing Reeboks air max Jordan, action was he raise pre and got called by donk, flop came TJ5, he checked the flop, donkey bet, he called, turn is an A, he pot the turn, donkey insta-shoved and he called, they were both 2 bis deep. Donkey showed KQo, he had TT, he stand up calmly and said something like "Fucking card rakes sob" very low and thrown his chair back in position.

He was playing so bad and he didnt even realized it, even if he play the hand good against me, checking the flop against this guy then calling an ai was so stupid. I keep folding hands and get used to the screen. Nothing noticable except some people just run good at this game and i wish i had a rush like them sometimes.

Donkey who stacked that guy in the previous hand is involved with an other donkey at the table, he stacked him also with KK , the other fish who was an old guy had TT and went broke on a K high board -_- for 200bb.

I was stunned, they were playing so so bad and i praised Lee and god for a good hand. And that's when i got QQ in EP, i raised it, got 2 callers + 1 caller from the SB who was a very decent player (he had 500$ and was doing chips trick so i assumed he was very good). Flop went A-8-Q, poker pro checked i bet 2/3 of the pot, fold, fold, back to him he insta called. I was like hu-ho, he's drawing to a str8 since there was no flush on board and i highly doubt he was slowplaying aces. I really hope he had bot set but i really put him on a draw. Turn is a brick, he checked and i bet 100$ in the 125$ pot. i sensed he was staring at me trying to get a read or whatever, he spoke to me but i didn t answered, i never answer i just stare at my screen with my cap covering my eyes and i just never answer.

My heart was accelereating so fast, it was a big pot and even if i knew i was ahead i could not stop the stress. He tank for a long long time (there are no timers) and said something like "Give me my out plz !" and called. Was he using reverse psychology ? maybe he was trapping me with aces but i was 99.9999% sure he wasn't. Maybe he was trying to get a cheap showdown and had top pair with a bad kicker but again, i didn't think so.

River is a 9, completing a str8, he immediately checked and a 9 could definitly be one of his out. Pot was like 325$ and i checked behind, he mucked and i raked the pot. Dunno if my check was correct but i've been thinking about it and came to the conclusion it was pretty bad, i should have bet like 1/3-1/2 of the pot to extract value from Top pair, 2 pairs or bot set, he really talked me out of a vbet on river.

Anyway i 4x my initial bi and was pretty satisfied with that, i asked some guy on my left if you had to buy in for the same amount when you leave a table, he told me no and i should exploit it giving a look at my stack, he said "I will abuse it too, you should leave and buy in for 200". I left the table and went to dinner with my wife, she spent like 100$ in the damn machines (mental note:don't bring her with me next time).

I registered again for nl200 and had to wait like an hour it was 8 pm and the room was starting to get very populated. I got assigned the same table but nothing happened for 4 hours, i kept folding rags, got AJ/AQ and raked the pot with a cbet on flop, stacked 2 shortstacks with pocket 9s and flopped top two. minus rake minus blinds i broke even for the second session.

One guy on the table went nut because he got sucked out on and started to threat the other guy and i don't know if you guys played world of warcraft but what followed reminded me the Stormwind guards when you're Horde and get deep into the city... A bus of security guards came out of nowhere to surround the old fat tilting monkey and they got him out of the room. It was midnight and time to go back home with a nice 400$ profit.

I'll maybe go back today since it was really fun and i really want to go there during week ends, games are soft during the week, i can't imagine during week end and when the gamblers are out.

Peace out.

D Day today ! What should i do ?
  Sheitan, Jan 18 2008

Alright, the electronic poker tables open today at the Montreal casino. There will be 25 tables starting at nl200, i obviously don't have the roll to feel confortable but im sure i can beat it as live should be ez.

Dealers are trying to close these tables because they were not satisfied by the salary the casino want to give them. They would be paid like 16$/hour + tips, wtf ? fucking greedy bastards i hope they fail and the tables will remain opened ! rakeback is 10% capped to 5 bucks THIS IS SO SWEET ! + i'll be able to play much more hands than if it was with a real dealer. I just can't tell how much i love the idea, more hands, less rakeback, no tips, same donks.

Is this a perfect formulae for making ton of cash ? Now the problem is i obviously don't have 6k right now and if i use my personal cash my wife is gonna insta-kill me. So what should i do from now ?

Poll: What should i do ?
(Vote): Play with 5 Bis and hope i run good
(Vote): Wait for at least 20 bis before going
