Like an idiot I convinced myself I was a boss cause I could rape NL 10. Played too long, tilted too hard, not to mention just played flat out bad.
I feel like OOP I get floated like every single hand. Nobody can fold their draws ever and they always seem to hit.
Yeah I ran like 3BI under EV but regardless I am clearly still a loser. I'm not making any excuses.
Fact is, I'm just bad. End of story. I'll listen to whatever anyone says and I don't think I'm going to comment on hands anymore cause obviously I don't know what I'm doing. I'm definitely missing some sort of key information required to own this stake.
Time to drop back down and work back up in fishville.
Probably gonna take a shot at NL 25 next week after I finish my finals, although I do feel like I'm in my comfort zone right now and like being a consistent winner. I don't really care about the money, I'm just trying to get better.
small sample so far but everything has gone very well.
I have been practicing some serious table selection now that I am playing standard full ring tables. Poker is a lot easier when you find sick fish and make sure they sit on your right.
Still don't really like the slow rate of hands being played but my thought process has felt almost perfect since I slowed down. I just need to put in more hours and continue to isolate the weaker players.
As much as I love rush because of the volume of hands I can get in, it is time to go back to ring games. Playing 4 tables of rush doesn't not allow a lot of time for decision making. I feel that most of my losses are due to bad calls on the river and planning processes. Although there are a lot of terrible players at rush poker, I do not sit with them every hand, making it harder to win money off the fish.
I have not played a significant amount of ring game hands yet, only about 4000. I'm up about 4BI but know the swings could come at any moment. I still hate the fact that ring games are too slow but a least when I make decisions I have enough time to think. The one thing I like the most is being able to see the showdowns of other players instead of automatically jumping to new tables. This way it is much easier to notice who is a huge fish based on the showdowns. Rush has increased my speed of analysis so keeping track of 8 full ring tables and all the players feels ridiculously easy. Will be looking forward to the challenge in December.
Ran very very VERY well at rush NL 10 but still was a consistent winner throughout. Pretty easy to note the NL 25 shot on the graph where it drops dramatically. Played too many tables and didn't adjust properly to the increase in skill level. Made quite a bit in rakeback as well.
I am close to a 2nd NL 25 shot but unfortunately I have taken an addiction toward donkaments and keep spewing away a couple dollars once in awhile which adds up. I get bored with cash games sometimes and want to play something different. I should at least give up the turbo tournaments because its pretty much a shoving luckfest deep. Gotta stop playing these cause I'm pretty sure I'm a loser at donkaments cause I lose patience late.
November goals:
- 35-45k hands
- Take 2nd NL 25 shot. Ideally be at least break even.
- Give up turbo SNGs and MTTs. Only play good solid structure tourneys and limit the amount.
The one positive thing about this experience is that I realized there is a whole new level of thinking in poker. I actually had to start playing the game with a brain rather than mindless playing at NL 10 cause people actually start to fight back and become more competent. My respect for all the midstakes players skyrocketed because this shit is hard and I'm obviously really bad at this game. I can't imagine the thought process on higher level hands (at least not yet).
I'll never complain about people sucking at NL 10 again lol
