met the sickest calling station on pstars, and all it took was one suckout to throw me off my game. he was such a sick calling station, i mean i could honestly value bet A high in 3-bet pots. i pretty much 3 bet all hands against him for value, and we ended up 4 tabling.
all in all,
he coolered me alot, A flush vs K flush twice (and one was a bdoor flush draw)
set/set once
called me down with A high but his Q kicker was better than my A high J kicker
it was lots of fun 3 betting wide ranges, but it kinda sucked because i still feel like i shoulda won more monies. all in all i managed to about break even due to some thin v-betting from overpairs/top pairs/A-high's
anyway i felt like i learned a shitload today, and i've never thought so much about board texture as deeply as i thought today.
so after playing a bit drunk, and playing like a real lag fag, it was crazy how much i learned from the experience as a whole. my 3 betting everything was such a dumb idea, and i'm so happy and glad that i've finally moved from it. i've been playing plenty of hands to showdown, making plenty of decisions post flop. another thing i've done is really try and keep an eye out for what my perceived table image is.
anyway up 4 buy ins today. maybe 5 more buy ins and i'll take a shot at .25/.5
i imagine it's about the same but ppl probably want to 3 bet a bit more lightly.
also learning all this cash has def changed my winning sng strategy into a losing one. i feel like austin powers and i just can't recover my mojo!
had my faithful laptop for like 5 years and i've never cleaned out the dust before...i figure i should since the fan's been chugging along a little loudly for a while now.
[no malice just ranting]
yea the 90's were pretty sweet...
everyone always talks about the 80's and how awesome that decade was...especially mother fuckers who were born in 1988+; clearly they have a better understanding vicariously living through old films and books and movies and enjoyed the 80's....no they didn't, whoops! yea you know these mother fuckers "I'm born in the wrong decade!" wrong douche bag! you were born to inherit a damn good decade but too bad, all you did was whine and "reminisce" about how you were born 5 years too late.
in case some of you guys have forgotten...let me go ahead and tell you why the 90's were awesome.
1) surge. yea that's right completely overrated and underrated at the exact same time. sure it was just mountain dew... but it was fucking green with caffeine! which was way radddddd
2) glow in the dark everything - creepy crawlers, shirts, toys, underwear this is the decade where glow in the dark got big
3) power rangers, pretty much the best kick ass show for all boys and pretty much made me the man i am today. non stop ass kicking, and then some more ass kicking, and then combining robots for extra ass kicking. and then summoning a dragon from the mother fucking ocean for ultimate ass kicking. (REMEMBER THE GREEN RANGER)
4) disney teen pop stars. yea i enjoyed it i'm not gonna lie. britney spears, christina aguilera, n'sync, backstreet boys, all the feuding and the break ups and the rumors and lance being gay it was all great. it was a bigger rivalry and star wars vs star trek.
5) baywatch
there's a reason why erectile dysfunction never existed in the 90's and it's name is baywatch. but specifically pamela lee.
mother fucker, i'm so hot and steamy i can't even finish this list.
won a 3 dollar 90 person ko tourney for like 70 bucks i think, yea it's pretty sweet. also won some cash monies so at around 165 on full tilt from the 50 that i got. haven't really gotten the bonuses though, but i guess i have another month to unleash it. pretty sweet results.
played a few hands on pstars...
ran pretty good, lots of coolers lots of set/set but i sucked out way hard on some lper (i recognized the avatar)
i was teaching a friend how to play and i said "i'm betting here on the river to induce a shove see?"
and we were shouting like mad when he shoved and snap called fist pumped popped champagne shot flare guns and then just started dieing of laughter to this ridiculous outcome.
anyway first night i've ever played for so long through the night drunk and tipsy. and i guess go ahead and add first winning drunk night as well.
thoughts on poker:
all the frustration and anxiety from poker seems so far away from me right now. i love this game i guess. meh it must be so easy when you run good (to love the game i mean).
anyway today ppl only shipped with AA or KK and never AK
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/709933
clearly i put him on 55's when i bet 5.55 (lol) i thought he had 99-JJ most of the time here. i called with 1 second on the time bank, almost folded i'm that nitty :/
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/709934
meh set up, we would have gotten it all in on the flop, anyway i'm starting to believe ppl ship AK alot less than i initially thought.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/709939
made a pretty good read on short stack, his flop bet was a bit too big and i check called since it was 3 way with a normal stack.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/709932
pretty much put him on 99-KK since it seemed like he wanted to get it in pre since were both blinds. i snap called his all in even though i felt like QQ's were slightly a bigger part of his range
anyway more confident than ever in my play.
2 major adjustments i made:
1) i focused too much on preflop poker, and that's where alot of my bad nub mentality came from.
2) i'm so much more focused on the long term aspect of poker where i can now completely ignore bad beats and remained focused at my play.
for hands played on 6/22 (about 10 hands i think)
been playing my super lag (raising all pp, AJ+, KQ all in position if possible)
be as harsh as you would like. i'm a pretty humble guy.
once again any/all comments are really appreciated
i regularly beat nl 25 and i feel confident in my skills at nl 25. but it's like winning starcraft games just because u memorized good build orders and decent macro/map control. i wanted to be able to kill nl 25 and absolutely demolish it. i guess the equivalent in starcraft would be to properly/perfectly/efficiently counter and make someone pay for a dropship play.
i modified my winning nl 25 style (6 max) and started to play even more lag. i 3 bet all pp, AJ+ and KQ and probably a wider hand range in the blinds. but playing lag without understanding EXACTLY what you are trying to accomplish is rather stupid and pathetic. i'm not sure if i have a higher winning rate than with my original medium aggressive style but my modified lag is giving me harder spots, harder calls and more harder variance.
so basically my question to the people who have beat these limits is to check my thoughts on nl 25.
1) just play hands, you have to just beat this game through sheer number of hands, as higher level thinking will not really pay off at this limit.
2) there isn't really a need to bluff (i started bluff raising river in spots that i thought only a set or other strong hands could call, and if it seemed unlikely enough and profitable enough to shove i would. anyway long story short ppl are more than willing to go broke with top pair)
3) learn to value bet and maximize your winnings.
these 3 points can all be summarized as play a b c poker
