I have not posted here in a very long time because I lost the password and just did not bother as this was anyway just a procrastination source for me. However, due to recent event, I wanted to blow some anger and steam towards one of the player here : genjix.
cliffs :
- lost 60k$ due to the extreme incompetence of some people, one of them being a ex poster here genjix
- Have been a long time lurker here so even though nobody know me I know you :D I basically know everybody here
- I have been a "professionnal" poker player for roughly 3 years before finally getting too bored with it and getting back to the real world.
Ok now for the longer story.
The bad stuff :
Some of you may have heard about bitcoins.
I was storing bitcoins in a exchange / bitcoin bank called "bitcoinica" for a sum that now amounts to roughly 60k$ (5021 btc)
Genjix was one of the operators and owner of the website, and leaked the source code of the website where there was a password in PLAIN TEXT and UNCRYPTED in those sources that allowed a subsequent theft by a hacker.
This allowed a theft of rougly 1/3 of the bitcoins, which amounted to around 450k$. The funds are now locked due to total inaction of genjix and the others co owners.
My life and the one of some others have been pretty crused by this event, and they showed very little care, nor show a lot of guilt. Like "whatever I lost 400k, it wasnt mine so life goes on !"
Just wanted to let you know.
Even though I am not poor, this is still a huge amount of money and you can bet how angry I am.
Ps :
I still read likidpoker and know most personnality and drama around here.
I would probably not have been a "pro" if it was not for you guys.
I think my favorite posters are MiPwnYa & Daut
MiPwnYa is such an amazing poster...
The kind of guy you can only wish happiness as he look like both generous and fun, always sharing and never in contempt.
I still remember a long time ago I won a VIP tourney of stars for like 2k and he almost won the other one (the one for supernova) the same day
The posters that shaped the most how I play are people like Daut (which is very good at explaining his thought process) and Myth (that was good at thinking outside the box, probably too much ). At the time when I was a beginner, those 2 guys really opened my mind.
I have followed the epic adventure of Floofy, Nelly, the "coach" controversy of myth, and everything else. I used to play those weird betting game with Floofy.
The guy has an endless imagination despite all the others issue he have at seduction
Best luck to everyone here. I love you guys
Ps : I forgot to say that I browse the ROFL thread like 20 times a day. This thread is just AWESOME
PS 2 :
I wonder why people like Daut who won 1m+ at some point still bother with grinding low stakes for amounst like 10k / month.
With 1 million, that amount can be made without effort in financial market, thats basically the average expected return of financial markets.
funny party story // more hands from 10k challengeby MARSHALL28, August 14
I noticed you guys were asking me to post the big hands from the match with Zach. We played our 2nd session on the 6th, which was a little over a week ago. I hadn't slept in about 2 days and was pretty drunk, but it still seemed okay for me to play him. I felt like he played significantly better this time than the previous two, I would be very surprised if he hadn't gotten any help. Maybe I was too out of it to realize though and was just playing bad ... I definitely made some HUGE mistakes that I don't generally make. I ended this session up 1k so despite punting off a couple of stacks and getting coolered for 160bb his AA to my KK ...guess it's not that bad of a result.
have been doing really well in poker last 2 months. even with that big 36k downer right in the middle of it, still up a lot and making more than i ever have in my career. moved into my beach house like 4 or 5 days ago and it's pretty much been crazy here ever since.

it definitely crossed my mind that he could have me beat on this river which is why i figured id try to play pot control w/ my value bet and bet small on the river so that i could call a c/r....
hi all, im kinda new to poker(been playing about 18months), and i really need help to improve my tournament strategy. i play tournaments on a daily basis but rarely do i make profit. i would say that im a quite tight player and rarely play marginal hands except in position and stealing blinds etc..
Several people who I respect and look up to have been telling me that I've been a bit of a pussy lately, for not giving PLO a shot!!(A couple have just called me that for no apparent reason as well, but that's not related to this post).
We can't have that, so now I've decied to give PLO a shot lol!! I think MiPwnYa pushed me over the edge, let me quote him: + Show Spoiler +
Why don't u give poker a try ? You seem to be able to understand concepts and reason on them fairly well, and you obv have time to spend so give the goddam game a try : ) + You're quite handsome.
The first month, Juli was just here and there. I just spent maybe 10% of my time on it, I started looking at hands, watched through the PLO episodes of Poker After Dark.
I think first hand of PLO I ever played was late Juni, so kinda fresh over all, and knew "nothing". Had to have the two card thingy explained over and over lol. But I used to beat 100nl when I was living out of poker 2-3 years ago. So I know "normal" poker quite well.
Anyhow, I felt it was a cool idea to make a PLO Diary, a weekly one. So I did that, I started it last Sunday, or Monday, not sure, think it was the 6th. So the scribblings from my Diary is for the entire week that has just passed.
It's not marked by days or anything, but when I think of stuff, study something, or have questions to myself or hands I'm proud of or felt I played terrible, I post them in the diary, sometimes lol.
I haven't posted any hands on the LP forum, don't want to clog up the site with Microstakes hands.
I 4 Table.
Here's for August so far, I +' all the minutes and divided by 60, 39 hours or so + Show Spoiler +
When I write, I seem to ask a lot of questions, I do that about pretty much everything lol. If you feel you've got a solid answer, tip, idea or you think you can help me in any of the questions you find in the diary, don't be shy. Copy the question, and then write your answer underneath. (Maybe be all cool like and make the questionz all like this, tilted to the side a little. But that's entirely optional xD
Maybe use that imigur imigur site for graph + stats

How do you make the popup window on hud bigger? When you hold over stats???
can you call with pretty bad double suited hand vs an open from a shortstack?

- Hmm, must be a good note to have on people when you think they rarely, if ever bluff. And a note when you think they are very capable of bluffing.

- Be careful with non nut flushes multi way, even when small bets and it looks like ur getting great odds
- Can it be good to fire, bluff on paired turns? Espesciall considering so often people are on F draws or Straight draws, and they just "omg fuck" when it pairs? Hum.....
OMG, so proud of my thought process in this hand yay
http://www.pokerhand.org/?6439120
I felt like it was a good spot to lead out, I had 9 outs + probably 4 good ones, plenty.
When I got a caller and a raise, I felt the first caller is on something that doesn't want to get it in now, and the guy who raised either have a sick draw or a set.
So after tanking I called, and I was hoping the other guy would call. He did.
When I hit the Flush, I felt he might fold if I shoved, and I didn't want to bet really small, have him call once, then fold if/when his warp missed. Since I had Flush, I felt it was more likely he had a hand like 2567ish, something like that lol, or two pair.
Or maybe a Flush, then he'd just shove and do it for me, so I checked, he quickly checked.
Now hoping on the river he will be more likely to call with a straight, since I checked the turn, or that he had a Flush, and I shove here instead.
MAYBE this is all super standard, and lolish, but I felt clever and smart for thinking like this lol.
What do you do vs shortstacks they 3b, and you've got like 345K double suit in pos, u call, stack flop, or fold? a little unsure
OMG, this session I just broke 500, omg omg, To think at once point I was under 200 Fuck yeah!! (Pardon my french).
This wasn't ment to be poker related, was just relaxing, and I came over this.
It's about Risk Intelligence, and pretty cool. Worth a watch I'd say!!
Hmm, I keep min opening hu when its vs ppl who buy in for 30bb, i wonder if that's smart, or if I should pot, maybe min with medium and crap hands and pot with good ones?
- Easier to determine someone's hand when hey make big calls xD
Hmm, is there any really good Blogs, that's kinda new and fresh, and kinda frequently updated by any good PLO players, 6max, mid stakes or a little higher? Plx pm or let me know if u know of any <3
Hmm, should you always limp if you see it can be multi way if u have crap hand but uve got a suited Ace?
How shitty can you call oop HU? What's the 50% middle hand in plo?
Owh, I like this play http://www.pokerhand.org/?6440184 YAy, I felt all cool n stuff, he flahed Top set and folded, which I felt he had yay. Felt all longple like...
Hmm after this sessions, I see I'm 41% vpip, but every table starts HU, so it's a bit off, I wonder where you can fix so you can see what your stats are when it's 5-6 people. And I wonder how much is seen as "ah, ok, that's a tight annoying bastard (but not too tight)".
- Seems like most of the bad players call with set when flush or a sc, and then tries to lead out weak xD
- Hmm, what do I do with bad double suited hands UTG and MP?? Open, Limp, FOLD?
- Seems often when we make a statement, write something, we "only" look for affirmations to back up our own claims.
In poker, maybe that means if you get annoyed or write "fucking fish", it's MUCH harder to realize, wait a minute, he might be kinda good lol. Or more subtle "Massive fish" and he's more timid, weak passiv buy in for half.
I felt it was a really good fold. My reasoning was one of them guys in there was really timid and passive, and for him to show so much strength made me wary. I felt that my J outs wern't there, since someone already had a low straight, or something. And that I might be drawing dead to the flush also. So felt it was a spot where noobs get it in, and I was being awesome and did a cool fold.
- Wonder what a good ritual is before you sit down n play, things to help u play ur A game
- Hmm, 10nl, maybe it's MUCH better to be REALLY tight, cuz of the rake, makes a lot of sense in my head atm.
- Hmm, a lot of bad regulars have a cool tell on the turn, it's usually pot or close to pot, if they get a straight, or something rly strong, or need to protect a set.
But when it's two pair, or a little something somehing, it's more in order like half pot to 2/3, and on a lot of rivers, a big bet gets them to fold two pair I think. I thought of this after this hand http://www.pokerhand.org/?6440574 where it felt I was beat, and that a small bet would be called off, but a large one would make him fold two pair. He tanked for 9 sec or so, then folded.

Guy is 31/3 over 320 hands, low AG 1.2 And I saw no stats for Raising flop, it just felt like a KKxx, which goes well with what he opens with, might be seeing ghosts.
But I tried to pay attention to the turn bet, and it came really really fast, I waited like 8 sec before I checked it to him, and my plan was to try and get a feel for it on the turn.
Ajaj, something felt off this sessions. Felt I started to play several hands badly. I'll post the ones I felt I sucked the most!! http://www.pokerhand.org/?6441567
141 sample size his first 3b, and I assumed AAxx, thought for some time, and decided to call, re evaluate turn, a bit annoying, cuz now I thought he might have two pair, and I was thinking, counting my outs, and I gave myself 15 outs, and I called.
Felt a bit silly when I saw his hand T_T 22/13 regular, but high aggression factor, and very low C bet, should have spoted the C bet earlier, maybe I'd have swayed me to fold flop.
When I get raised like that I instantly thought, shit, top straight?
Then I started thinking, very high aggression on the guy, 65/46 Vpip n opnr as well. 7,9 AF, hated it, almost timed out, but decided to pretend he was a spaz and had Two pair or a set, and I'd call the river if it didn't pair or hit T or J or pairs.
Blerk
We've been playing HU for a bit, I Felt he was bad, I guess that's not much of a read.
His turn bet made me feel he was quite weak, like some shit or something.
Then a check, I felt he checks to call vs a small bet, so I decided to try and make it look like a value bet, a straight, top two pair, set or something.
Maybe not try and bluff so much on these stakes, or just wrong oponent to pull it on.
Ok, last one, but I played really sucky this session, dropped lots of buy ins lol http://www.pokerhand.org/?6441581
When fire turn and he calls, I feel he ain't got the jack, since the jack would probably raise here, can be a set, but doesn't feel like it. He did the normal fish tell, wait long then bet, but I talked myself into calling. Not sure what I'd beat, just felt weird, what could call the turn I was thinking about, it was like he was saying he had a Jack or a set or quads, I didn't buy it. If he had two pairs on the flop, he'd surely fold on that turn. So didn't think it could be a boated 677
Usj, bad day, played some NL as well, was teaching my brother, and after he went, I kept playing for some hours. Bleh, went bad there as well
Down 10bi today!!
I think when I start to do some good bluffs, some good calls. I suddenly start seeing places to do more of it, or call more, and it can quickly turn from being awesome to being spewy. Not 100%, maybe a little results oriented lol.
- Hmm what about only writing note if you know how to extract money from whatever leak?
Our dad was going on holliday for a week, and we thought I'd be an amazing idea to surprise him with a Birthday gift.
The idea was to scrub down all his doors, then paint them with 3 coats (not sure why 3, but that's what people seem to have their mind set on). So me, my brother and sister payed for paint and thingy to paint with.
We estimated I'd maybe take a few hours lol, I went there 4 times this week, and last time I was there for 8 hours straight. So in total maybe 60 hours combined lol. (Was 9 doors, and one super difficult one, with glass n crap in it).
I've been making a conscious effort to read about half an hour or 3-4 news articles daily. Despite my efforts it is really difficult to keep everything together, what platforms which candidates/parties stand by. Was wondering if there was any goto site that keeps track of everything with minimal bias.
Lastly I've read both Bossypants by Tina Fey and Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me (And Other Concerns) and have to only recommend the latter after reading the latter. Although Bossypants was an enjoyable read/audiobook (have a tablet so can read/listen depending on my environment ie bus or class) Mindy Kaling's book was so much more touching and well written. After reading her book it is obvious to me that she is both intelligent and kind.
Growing bored of poker already?by Watkyn, August 12
My past month has been a bit weird. A little over a month ago I started playing online poker again.
I get obsessed about things quick and have a good worth ethic. I enjoyed playing it and started playing 8+ hours and later even 12+ hours a day a couple of days straight. I was in this mindset for about two weeks.
I was doing pretty well too. I turned about $20 into (currently) about $750. I enjoyed seeing the progression in my play, moving up the stakes and finding new challenges.
As I had to work all day yesterday, I planned on playing 8k hands today. I would 9 table (I normally 6 table) 25NL for the whole day like I did the days before. I found myself not having the motivation in the morning like I used to have. I forced myself to startup PS and join 9 tables.
I didn't reach my goal. After almost 9 hours I "only" played 5k hands. The worst part is is that I didn't feel the motivation, the excitement, the desire to play better and win more. I sat there and played because I made myself to.
This might partially because of 9 tabling. I was nitting it up (11/8, I normally play 17/12) and it was simply less fun.
Later in the evening I started 6 tabling again, trying it with less tables. Again, I didn't give a flying fuck the whole hour.
Anyway, maybe I've been pushing myself too much the last couple of weeks. My progression (both bankroll aswel as skill) has stagnated a bit. This might also has contributed to this.
My goal was to be rolled for (25BI) 50NL before college starts again in september. It still should be a realistic goal, but we'll see.
...just had to get that off my chest. I'm taking a break tomorrow. I haven't worked out in a month since poker, so that'll probably be a good idea too.
So, I was playing around in OpenOffice + Odds Oracle to figure out how to make a sheet to calc EV of calling 4bets (never really used OpenOffice before so this is all pretty new), and just as I was done... I realized there's a native function to automate this inside the Odds Oracle program already -_-
My problem? I'm getting a different answer for the EV from the Odds Oracle than I do when I calculate manually / with open office. Could anyone check what I've ****ed up?
What I enter into the Odds Oracle's PQL interpreter:
select avg(
case
when minEquity(hero,flop,0.3006)
then 42.75*riverEquity(hero)-(5.55+12.85)
else 0 - 5.55
end
) as EVCALL
from game='omahahi',
syntax='Generic',
hero='QQ33$ds',
villain='AA**'
Note: I don't know any PQL, this is cobbled together from a post by someone on this forum and some perusing of the FAQ (link: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showpost.php?p=28772831&postcount=145)
I'd really appreciate it if anyone could show me where I screwed up, thanks!
NOTE: Am aware that unless you set trials to some absurd number the % will fluctuate a little bit everytime you query (so the numbers I entered manually for, lets say, avg equity, will fluctuate slightly but the difference should be in the 0.02 range rather than 0.2)
So, I haven't written a blog in awhile but I have been fairly active at my local casinos. For a little while playing 1/2, 1/3 I felt on top of the world wrecking every table i played at have consistent days of 600$ profits. Some days good, some bad. Overall I felt great. My problems began when my regular 5-6 hour days turned into a 12-14 hour days and i would always feel tired and lazy toward the end of my sessions. For some reason I just bean playing every day trying to win back any loses from the last day and usually playing pretty well in the early hours only the make mistake after mistake and miss reading my opponents constantly. So yeah, pretty much the worst 2 months after being up around 4.5k. I would get mad at the way the cards fell without realizing that the problem was post flop and i was aggressive against a tight player. It was just a snowball of bad poker by me. I consider myself a good player when I am thinking clearly and understand my limits but i got greedy and tried to exceed what i was capable of.
From my loses I took the last 1k or so and spent it on things i needed before i would take a small break. I decided to take a break when my girlfriend moved in with me and i took a little vacation. I decided that I would switch from cash games to tournament play. Prior to playing cash games as my primary focus, I played the local casino tournaments and although i wasn't too good at the time, after winning a few for around 1k each, I was hooked.
Lately I have been playing in a lot of tournaments and doing exceptionally well. Like cash games, I want to build up a little larger of a bankroll before enrolling myself in tournaments that are above 300$. The unfortunate thing where I am is that the tournaments are usually 25 min blinds, 5k ish stacks, and start at either 10/20 or 25/50. I wish they were a little more deep with longer blind levels but that 150-200$, I probably won't get my wish. The 5 tournaments I played in I have made the money in 4 of them, usually chopping the winnings with the remaining 3 or 4 at the table depending on the take. So, as things are looking up i am sad at my previous performances lead me back to tournaments. Not because of my choice to play.
On any note, things have been going well and as time allows (girl friend) I will continue to compete. I played in a wsop satellite a little ways back without being rolled for the type of re-buy that it was so I hope to build my stack to be able to compete on that level again. I am not a good player but i think I know a lot more than the competition that I am up against which bodes well for me.
I have learned that my weakest point in any tournament is usually when I have about 20 bb's and blinds are 200/400 with 50 ante. I just can't seem to get a good fix on stealing correctly and picking my spots. right around this time is when the tight players begin a steal attempt or two and i find myself being the victim of their first "steal" attempt and forced to fold due to having the only information on them as a Tight player. Obviously they may not be bluffing but they will show their cards trying to tilt me or feel like a bad ass, I can't tell.
So, I will try to start submitting spots that I wasn't sure about keep you guys updated on my tournament play. I have a few casinos to choose from with all sorts of different ranges for tournaments so once i build my stack up higher I will join the larger tournaments with prizes for first coming around 10k.
Since moving up to 25NL I haven't experienced the same success as I had at the limits before. I don't feel it's harder, but I've just played worse and ran bad.
Started yesterday in my first 500 hands losing 3 buy-ins, spending all day trying to grind it back. I did, went over it and then lost my winnings again. Ending up with a 0.09 BB/100 session after 15 hours of play.
This morning, same thing happened, but even worse. Lost AA vs KK, AA vs AQ, small pots and an awful tilt bluff. Back down to -4 buy ins.
I know, I shouldn't whine too much, in the little over a month I have been playing again I haven't experienced any real downswings yet, but progression stagnating is a bit demoting.
