Haven't blogged since capping off my 2010, and have mostly been working on my startup. In fact I haven't even played poker this year, and of course there was that whole Black Friday thing...
So why am I offering coaching? I think I still possess some small iota of ability, FTP's lock up of my funds is taking its toll on me, and I'm offering it at $40/hr. Decent deal as I used to coach for 150-200/hr at my prime (I used to also coach for free). Frankly after Black Friday I think at least Americans should be a lot more pragmatic and realistic about income generation and realize that even $40/hr is quite a lot of real world moneys.
This is by no means a sick deal on your part, like I said I haven't played at all. But I think I can be like that guy in Happy Gilmore, the old guy who's washed up but was still integral to Adam Sandler's improvement.
That said, I obviously don't believe I'm capable of coaching 400nl anymore, perhaps not even 200. Maybe even 100 is a stretch now? So this is mostly for lower stakes players, where the level of the games may still be similar to the games of 2010.
Past general theoretical knowledge, I'm pretty good at HU, I can teach a thing or two about emotional control, and I have a plethora of old material like old coaching videos (where I get coached) and assorted stuff I've made in the past that I don't mind giving away anymore. Lastly, I've spent almost a good year researching and understanding the silicon valley tech industry so anyone with any interest in tech startups (or starting one) can pick my brain for free as part of this.
It's always been better for me to coach people who I could talk to every so often as an actual person rather than some dude I'm making $ off of. Having said that I'm more partial to names I recognize for this offer but if no one wants to take coaching from a washed up player then I'll take anyone I can get .
Payment will have to be in paypal unfortunately. Besides that, I'll try to make this as beneficial for you as I possibly can. I realize this is the end of the line for me in poker, so I'd at least like to go out with some fulfillment.
Not really a blog just a question lol.
Was watching GSTL Venus group week 2 FXOpen vs ZeNEX game 2 and the casters referring to a guy in the stands said"there's Midian, one of the best foreign zergs of all time"
Are they referring to the same Midian that posts on LP?
wich is 20k$ from EU sites, mostly an italian randomsite, where im now banned cuz i won 10500€ in like max 3-4000 hands of 2/4-10/20€, so they banned me not to play there anymore wich sux (super retarded decision over such small sample, they said i rake to little playing that high and win to much, lol, it was good value, but atleast i got my money, some volume on bossmedia aswell where i made ~4k€
my swedish mainsite i only made ~5k$ on in the end, but 1 week ago i was stuck about 16k$ there so there was a really nice recovery, graph from there can be found belove.
played alot of interesting hands this month, so if ur bored u can check my latest hands out, there are some discusssion/comments etc about the hands, i mostly just post the interesting wierd ones, mostly... (aliens)
not a great month, but decent concidering how bad it was at some points, in total live and online i ended + 15k$, plus some rakeback, not sure how much, maybe 1k€
hopeing for a big nice one next month
if u havent seen the show kenny vs spenny its awesome, check it out
edit: i realised its halfyear too, and i also realised im on the right pace of my goal of 1 million SEK (~150 000$) wich is good i guess
im + on EU sites too, not sure how much as alot of my volume has been on wierd sites that my affiliate fixxes me in on, played on like 3-4 different italian networks wich dosnt support any trackers, maybe 30k$ if i estimated some kind of a guess so im well on pace, hopefully ill make it + around 100k$ so far online 2011
Little bit of history, used to play live 1/1 games (£) and won a fair bit up and down, but couldn't build a roll as a typical student always spending and being a standard degen. Long story short won 2k in a week, spent most of it, busted the last of it. Standard. While playing live, I've always just donked about online, usually at 9am when getting home from the casino, just donking away $100 without caring as I was so tired. As I said typical degen So all my stats look terrible in my history.
So after busting my live roll and being unemployed, I thought I'd do the pro thing, and deposit $10 and grind my way to $1mil
Online is very different from live, so didn't start too great. But 50k hands later here I am. Binked $200 cash in storm and running 8bb/100 at Nl2. Cashed out a chunk and purchased HEM today so can finally get all my graphs and stats.
Kinda suprised to be running 15BI's under EV, knew I ran badish but wasn't expecting that. But oh well, can't complain, It's NL2 and thats the point of it :D
Sorry to bore you all but any quick obvious leaks that you can spot?
I need to stop limping and especially open limping OOP and even IP and nit up from the blinds massively and to stop double barrelling (live habit).
Kim Jong-il Plays Poker Online!by be_higher, June 30
I was playing on Black Chip Poker, a Merge skin, when I encountered a player from Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the official name of North Korea (South Korea's official name is just the Republic of Korea).
He must be Kim Jong-il!
- Few people have the Internet access in North Korea. The only man powerful enough to have that access AND be able to put money into an online poker platform (North Korea has very strict control on money processing) is him.
- He was pretty aggressive, 4betting me with TT when I had played very tight. We know Kim Jong-il loves to fight.
At the end, I took about $5 from him. I'm really worried that he will come after me for the money and this blog, but truth needs to be shared!!!
ive hit a wall and i want to smash it with my fistby Stroggoz, June 29
basically when i started playing poker again this year i went into the mentality that it wasn't worth playing this game unless i was good.
unfortunely i've hit a wall of improvement and can only beat nl200 at 1.2 BB/100. While this is pretty satisfying if u like living on 60k a year. It is not enough to live the life of cocaine and hookers that i've dreamed of ever since i was a child. And it is certainly not enough to pass onto any children i might have in the future.
I've been looking at other peoples profiles and see that people like pobolero beat 1/2 at 3 BB/100, and nanonoko beats 5/10 at 2.9 BB/100 (WTF!!)
anyway, imma try a month of 6 tabling to see if i can still actually improve by myself, if that doesn't work then i would be interested in coaching from someone that can beat 5/10 by more than .5/BB100.
Also i'm fairly interested in making a grindhouse in new zealand next year, if anyone is interested lemme know. Its a long shot posting this on LP, but meh whatever.
Also a lot of people have been taking my posts too seriously on lp, i will point out now that i have a severe case trollisitus. Which is basically when i subconciously troll in nearly all of my posts. This is a growing disease for me and i really dont like trolling but its become somthing that i do without knowing a lot of the time, and it makes me look like a massive dick because i have to disagree with every point of view even though i may not actually disagree. I will try to control this disease after this post but just letting you guys know that i have it.
I'll be going this year to the WSOP Main Event. I think I'm EV+ in the tournament although it will be my first time in Las Vegas and obviously the WSOP. It won't be my first live experiencie though as I have played in 3 LAPTs (Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico (2008); Rosario, Argentina (Sep 2010) and Lima,Peru (Apr 2011), and this August I will be playing the Punta del Este event as well as the Americas Cup which I qualified for). Unfortunately, in the last two LAPTs I was not able to cash in the Main Events but I have done pretty decent in the Second Chance (SC) events. In Argentina I Final Tabled the $2,000 SC but busted in 8th place unfortunately. I was chipleader for almost the entire tournament but lost two big flips when we were down to 18 players (AT
Online I've also had decent tournament success besides the recent Sunday Million score. Check my id: o_omx in both stars and ftp (I dont play on FTP anymore due to recent obvious events)
I believe I'm a trust worthy player and I have never stole any money from my backers. TimDawg, Baal and lostaccount can confirm this.
Anyways, I would like to sell up to 30% of my action at 1% = $120 which I believe is a decent rate. Minimum purchase is 3%, but if I fail to sell enough action in time I guess I could start booking 1% and 2%s.
IMPORTANT
I think it is very important to tell you guys that as a Mexican I will be charged with 30% tax of the prize money I get and it is unsure if I will be able to get those taxes back or not. I would have to fill in some forms and ask for a tax refund and in case I'm given the taxes back, I will obviously give you your money from that.
I'm leaving to Las Vegas probably on July 5th so hopefully you guys will be able to buy something.
Send me a PM or post in here to starting booking.
Thank you,
Francisco Rios
Update
Hey guys, I finished selling action. Thanks to Darki and Arirang who got the last pieces.
Fighting IRL now tougher with MMA aroundby whamm!, June 28
I've seen so many guys who were practitioners of karate, taekwondo, jujitsu, boxing, judo get owned against an untrained opponent in bar, school and street fights. Seems to me the most composed fighters, whatever the discipline, come out on top more often than not. In general though I've witnessed guys primarily trained in karate(shotokan, mudokwan, tangsudo, etc) and taekwondo get raped the most in a fistfight, and guys who just "know" boxing or are good in Judo pretty much pwn. I'm not talking about random 4 punch club or street affairs where the other guy either gets KO'ed right away or fight gets broken up prematurely (gay obv), I'm talking about full-blown fights that followed thru till the end where one guy was left standing or obviously in a very dominant position (mounted, raining down punches or other guy's legs totally gone running purely on "intent" to fight)
With the advent of MMA and the seemingly adverse effect is has on the fun of fighting(or watching fights) in public is that you never really know if the guy has some MMA background (chances are he knows some). It's like partypoker then uigea/cardrunners, RL fight fish then MMA/UFC.
I dont see where I'm going with this(lol) but I'd like to hear other guys views on what they think are the most useful things disciplines that are really useful IRL self-defense. I watch youtube vids and it seems the other guy always throws these super-telegraphed kicks/punches or idiotic wide open strikes just to make the whole thing look good. Imo boxing and/or jujitsu would be it, I've seen good boxing training IRL being used and I can attest to its effectivity, with Jujitsu though, I think its pretty clear that long fights will always go to the ground eventualy so its pretty self explanatory.
I'm a 2/4 FR winning regular. In my afternoons, 2/4+ games die and I have free time to be able to coach.
I've only coached friends before but have been through 2 large profit-share setups online to know how to get the best out of it (from student's perspective).
Most recently with AndrewSong (baller~) who I'm sure will vouch for me.
I'm looking to do single hours at $100/hour of Full Ring only. If it's mutually beneficial, then we can discuss longer term deals.
I have been playing cash games on pokerstars since late 2006. I'm a german citizen living in venezuela, and usualy cash out using direct bank transfer to my german bank account. today my cashout was declined, since they say that i'm living in venezuela and can't cashout to my german bank account. i usualy spend between 7 to 8 months in venezuela and the rest of the year in germany. as a matter of fact i always go there since my son receives therapy twice a year. I'm also registered under my parents address since 2007.
i had the same problem back in 2009 when i requested them to send me a rsa token to my venezuelan address. back then i talked on the phone to a really nice asian dude from ps support, and he had enough common sense to understand my situation. since i didn't wanted to cashout to a venezuelan bank account since this is a huge hassle.
well to make a long story short, this time the support dude is acting stupid and says i need to use different cashout options like neteller. I'm still trying to reason with them but in the meantime does anybody knows if i can make transfers from neteller to my german banking account? in that case i will try and activate my neteller again.

I am thinking of quitting my job somewhere around september, october and get a one way ticket to asia.
Not sure where to though. I am thinking of making it a back packing tour. And start indonesia or something and keep making my way further. May end up in russia. My home country. Where I will have free accomodation.
I’ve been trying to convince myself to start writing a blog for a while now, but I’ve managed to put it off for the last few weeks. I woke up this morning and had a list of things I had to get done… so far I’m making some progress. In case you haven’t figured out yet, there was no kidnapping.
If you’ve read this far… well I’m surprised to say the least. I thought most of you would have realized this blog will not be extremely exciting by now. Actually, that’s not true I’m selling myself short, I’ve got a lot of pretty awesome blog posts planned out for the upcoming week, so I think you guys should all enjoy it. I’m planning on updating it every few days.
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Greg. I’ve been involved in the poker world for quite some time now, 4 years I believe. Some of you guys may remember me from the days of Baller Poker (when it was still around).
Supplements + Working Out
I put an order in for some new supplements last week! Over the past year I’ve gotten involved in working out a fair bit at the gym. Not to the point where I’m some big looking juice freak (not the look I want), but just trying to build muscle and generally stay in good shape. I’ve always thought guys who have really big muscles (and think they’re jacked) but have alot of body fat are complete fools. For anyone who goes to the gym you know exactly who I’m talking about! Anyways here’s a picture of the supplements I just bought (excuse the low quality blackberry pics):
I picked up a ten pound bag of ON Gold Standard Whey. This stuff is awesome, regarded as the best protein you can get your hands on these days. I picked a not so great flavour however, Rocky Road. Got a little too adventurous, I know to stick to the straight chocolate from now on. Usually end up taking 1 shake before my workout around lunch and one within 30 minutes after my workout.
I also picked up some ON Casein, which is a protein which takes longer to digest. The idea is that you take it right before bed so that your muscles don’t start breaking themselves down throughout the night! Went for cake batter… turned out to be an okay flavour, but not great.
I also bought a pre-workout because it was on sale. I’ve never been a huge fan of pre-workouts, seems like most of the time you’re just buying a powder loaded with caffeine (not a great thing to be putting in your body). One of my buddies that I work out with says he can feel his concentration increase and he gets a way better pump when he takes this stuff… I’ve yet to feel anything. Any of you guys use stuff like Jack3d?
Also got ON Multivitamins and Glutamine capsules. Pretty much just your standard multivitamin, but has higher amounts of various vitamins than normal multis since they are for working out. Glutamine just helps your body break down protein and build muscle. I’ve never actually taken Glutamine caps before, but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to start taking them.
I’ve hit a plateau as of late in terms of building muscle. I’m 6’4 and around 215 pounds and I’ve been stuck between 210-220 for the past month or so. I’d like to add 10 pounds perhaps, but really not looking to bulk up much more than that.
American Players
I had a pretty awesome week last week. I helped a poker player I met from Miami come down and relocate to Canada (for the purposes of his Full Tilt Poker account). To be clear, he didn’t actually move down here, he just flew down for a few days so that I could help him set up a moneybookers account and get his Full Tilt account switched to Canadian residency status. Pretty pumped to say I got everything set up so that he was able to cash out the day after he landed!
So all in all he was pretty happy with the trip, and I was happy that I could help him out. It’s pretty incredible that Americans can’t cash out their Full Tilt funds, yet I was able to help an American who flew over to meet me get access to his funds within 48 hours! Needless to say I have a few more American players that I will be helping out over the coming weeks. I really feel sorry for all these Americans who are falling victim to all this ridiculous stuff going on with legislation and Full Tilt. At the end of the day PokerStars comes out looking like a real gem from all of this!
Grapples
I was out grocery shopping yesterday and I came across something that I had never seen before! I’m sure alot of you American guys have seen this already, but it’s new to me:
Grapples! Supposedly they are apples that taste like grapes! I wasn’t really sure if these are some sort of genetically modified foods or if they are something else! A friend was trying to tell me that they are just apples that are soaked in grape juice, but that didn’t really make sense to me. Anybody have any idea how these things are made! They cost $5 US for 4 of them. I figured I’d give them a pass since I already had some apples at home.
Anyways that pretty much does it for this blog! I’ve got some pretty exciting posts coming up, so keep reading! Thanks for your time guys!
