New month, new possibilitiesby DustySwedeDude, April 01
So last month was fail as far as profits, number of hands, results in school and living healthy goes. Also a slight stock market fail. I'd say it was mostly my own fault but I can blame the lack of volume a little bit on having a ton of crap to do and the lack of profits on running 12k€ under EV. Also tended to be sick a lot, had a cold most of the month and managed to catch some weird ass eye infection which kept me from BJJ a while. And I helped my GF move, how such a small girl can have so much heavy shit is beyond me, and ad to that the she might've have had the most useless room mate in the history of the world and there was a lot of work to be done.
Fuck it, April's here and I plan to grind like a mad man. I've gotten 7k hands in today. Just a tiny profit. but I'm ok with that when I'm 10bi under ev. Trying to reach maybe 15k hands for the weekend, just to get the month started off good.
Ohh, and I stopped drinking (at least while in Sweden).
sc2, need practice partnersby CrownRoyal, April 01
yo LP
me and resident hero mezmerizeplz are tired of playing hon so much and want some people to play KOTH games with (winner stays, cycle in obs) and in general just more friends so sc2 isnt so barren
we are like high diamond/low master lvl and sick rusty and can only micro 1 unit! lol
caleb_012_@hotmail.com is my sc2 name add meeeeeeeeeee
- Played around 35000 hands. Good volume for me personally since I only play a couple hours a day.
- Hit the 1K milestone mark
- Successfully raped the shit out of NL 25
- Moved up to NL 50 and have a solid and consistent roll to be staying here for a while.
Goals for April
- same amount of volume or more
- 1K profit
- hit 2.5K bankroll milestone
- Get ready to start easing into NL 100 or be at NL 100 by the end of the month
around 18000 or so is when I moved up to NL 50. It's been a little swingy and I'm running a little under EV. I'm still taking full responsibility for some of these losses and I don't want to use EV as an excuse because I know I make occasional mistakes. I feel like my biggest weakness is not folding enough in marginal spots. I've gotten better at extracting value with my good hands, now I just need to get better at not giving away value to other people. My mentality lately has been "you win what you don't lose". Whenever I look over my sessions there are always 3-5 hands that I could have folded and made almost a BI more in the session from preventing losses.
Anyway thats my story. Good luck in April to everyone else.
What's up Liquid Poker? I've been lurking and occasionally posting random hands for a while, but now I decided to start a blog so that I can track my progress, get advice, and get trolled by you guys.
First a brief introduction. I am currently a sophomore at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Around this time last year I decided I need to get more involved on campus and came across the Illini Poker Club while looking through the list of clubs. At the time I hardly played poker at all and was pretty terribad, but I did enjoy playing when I could with friends. I also did have some past experience playing some pretty nerdy card games, so maybe that's part of the reason poker appealed to me. So I went to a couple meetings, read some basic strategy powerpoints posted on the club's website, and started playing online at Stars. I got from NL2 to NL10 by being a huge nit, and then got stuck at NL10. At that point, I decided I was too impatient to play well on Stars, so I decided to move to Rush Poker on Full Tilt. I was still stuck at NL10-NL25 for a while, but I was actually improving with the help of edzwoo and friends, and by browsing forums and watching a bunch of videos. I moved up to NL50 and ran like 25BI below EV, but still rolled myself for NL100 just from rakeback. I was pretty unsuccessful at NL100 and took like 3 shots before deciding to give HU a try. Played a little NL50-NL100 HU and then started crushing Rush when I came back. In February I pretty much beat NL100 and NL200 starting from around a $2000 bankroll. I also quite my shitty job at one of the student dining halls in February In March I played like 90% NL400 Rush, a little bit of NL200 Rush while 6 tabling (where my redline drops lol), and a little NL100-200 HU. Here are my results:
I'm definitely happy with the money I'm currently winning, but I think it's time to move up. It's not just about the money, I just want to keep getting better and better. I think in April I'm going to get out of Rush and either focus on HU (starting at NL200) or just do regular ring games (starting at NL400) and see how far I can go. BTW, I have no experience with 6 max at all, but if I do regular ring games I might make the switch. Any advice on the transition from FR to 6-max or Rush to regular games?

Recently I've watched the second movie about the so called "Skulls" in Brasil - "Tropa de elita 2" and that's the reason to make this post.
I have never been in Brasil, nor I know someone from there, but especially the first movie was way too brutal, to the point that I thought to myself that this is just for the movie and not what's really going on in Rio De'Janeiro, but when I've read the comments about the second movie I got the motivation to learn "from the inside" if the movie (especially the first one) shows the real situation?I mean - all the corruption and kills?People dying in the gettos without noone even care... For those who have watched the film, you know what I'm talking about, so - is this for real? And have something changed through the years?

I wasn't able to put in much volume this month, but what I did get to put in I'm relatively happy with. My graph is pretty much the opposite of every other one I've seen, my non-showdown winnings are the only thing keeping me out of the red.
I don't want to whine or anything, but most of my losing showdown hands are getting it all-in preflop with the best hand and villain hitting their two outers or runner-runner to flush/straights. I know this is all part of the game so I'm just trying to keep my head up and not letting it tilt me. The hands I'm not getting it all-in pre are winning so I think that's a plus since I am getting my money in with the odds in my favor.
Poker:
- Put in some more volume (this may not be too much more since I'm extremely busy from like 9am - 11pm most days with school and work)
- Get to 5NL (I think I should be able to do this as I'm not too far away now, and I think that another 4k+ hands per month should be able to get me to that goal)
- Figure out more features of Free Poker DB (can't afford PT3 or HEM right now, and its the best I can do)
Personal:
- Finish out my undergrad career strong (This is going to be my toughest month of college by far, so just trying to buckle down and remembering whats more important)
- Hit the gym a little more (been only managing one/two days a week if I'm lucky)
- Get some more interviews (the 3ish I had this month went well, but still need to keep my options open)
Good luck to everyone, both in poker and in real life,

Im looking to do a fun propbet with someone that plays 25NL on PS. Basically most profit for April wins, winner picks the PS avatar the loser will use for May.
Bad Beat: I sent my noob friend $500 and told him to short stack 24 tables of 50nl the night of the 60billionth PS hand. He loses $250 of it and I'm just like w/e send it back. Instead he says nonono I'm gonna play 10nl and grind it back up for you. I tell him whatever you do, don't fucking waste your time grinding 10nl and just send it back. So he goes to play 100nl and loses another $170. I'm gonna beat his ass
Apparently I've only been getting 18% effective rakeback on FTP since the switch to contributed which sucks.
In other news, after my 2.4k drop at the end I started playing LoL and I'm pretty addicted. Come play with me
Goodbye Cereus. Herro Hero Pokerby Seobombisgay, March 31
I decided to switch my sng grinding from Cereus to Hero Poker. One of the main reason is because Cereus just does not give a f*** about their players and their recently revamped leaderboard screwed their high volume sng grinders. Hero's software is actually much nicer than Absolute Poker, regardless of the fact that Absolute has 4-5x more players on Hero. It just shows how much Cereus cares about their players.
Anyways, I've been playing on Hero for only 2 days and have yet to learn how the site works exactly. I'm like a level 36 recruit now as they emphasize their VIP system to be like the leveling system on MMORPGs. I'll be grinding A LOT more starting now so expect more graphs and posts. Here's my graph so far. These are $5-$35 super turbos(u start off with 10bb)
That downswing was just due to bad play. I was on a heater and just decided to go rambo mode and chase draws and make insane bluffs. Well, thats the result of winning tilt. I'll continue to post my results and hopefully, I'll be on Sharkscope's leaderboard for most profit on Merge's network as well.
= +5.4k month. Like february, saved the month on the last day w/ a MTT score (biggest online score so far) 45 months on the green and counting. + Show Spoiler +

Failed the volume tho due to college mostly, gonna set the same goal for april. I guess I'll just make a PLO flipament for the $100 on my home game club this weekend, PM me to get in (if I don't recognize your name then your in).
On another note, live 5/10-10/25 is super soft, and I run super bad. Gonna take a break from those esp after downswinging almost 40 G's on a car. Totally worth it tho, wish I would stop getting speeding tickets but I can't help myself.
SNE looks more and more impossible, I'm 100% on making it to the 800k milestone, and I'm not sure how much more you get if you make it all the way but I might stop there since its so hard when I have a lot of rl shit to do.

That title was for you palak =) Ok, technically I gotta say "probably" because there isn't enough official research to say it does for sure, but the research is strongly suggesting it lately, and well enough for the National Cancer Institute to post this:
Antitumor Effects
One study in mice and rats suggested that cannabinoids may have a protective effect against the development of certain types of tumors. [3] During this 2-year study, groups of mice and rats were given various doses of THC by gavage. A dose-related decrease in the incidence of hepatic adenoma tumors and hepatocellular carcinoma was observed in the mice. Decreased incidences of benign tumors (polyps and adenomas) in other organs (mammary gland, uterus, pituitary, testis, and pancreas) were also noted in the rats. In another study, delta-9-THC, delta-8-THC, and cannabinol were found to inhibit the growth of Lewis lung adenocarcinoma cells in vitro and in vivo .[4] In addition, other tumors have been shown to be sensitive to cannabinoid-induced growth inhibition.[5-8]
Cannabinoids may cause antitumor effects by various mechanisms, including induction of cell death, inhibition of cell growth, and inhibition of tumor angiogenesis and metastasis. [9-11] Cannabinoids appear to kill tumor cells but do not affect their nontransformed counterparts and may even protect them from cell death. These compounds have been shown to induce apoptosis in glioma cells in culture and induce regression of glioma tumors in mice and rats. Cannabinoids protect normal glial cells of astroglial and oligodendroglial lineages from apoptosis mediated by the CB1 receptor. [10,11]
In an in vivo model using severe combined immunodeficient mice, subcutaneous tumors were generated by inoculating the animals with cells from human non-small cell lung carcinoma cell lines.[12] Tumor growth was inhibited by 60% in THC-treated mice compared with vehicle-treated control mice. Tumor specimens revealed that THC had antiangiogenic and antiproliferative effects.
In addition, both plant-derived and endogenous cannabinoids have been studied for anti- inflammatory effects. A mouse study demonstrated that endogenous cannabinoid system signaling is likely to provide intrinsic protection against colonic inflammation. [13] As a result, a hypothesis that phytocannabinoids and endocannabinoids may be useful in the prevention and treatment of colorectal cancer has been developed.[14]
Another study has shown delta-9-THC is a potent and selective antiviral agent against Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV), also known as human herpesvirus 8.[15] The researchers concluded that additional studies on cannabinoids and herpesviruses are warranted, as they may lead to the development of drugs that inhibit the reactivation of these oncogenic viruses. Subsequently, another group of investigators reported increased efficiency of KSHV infection of human dermal microvascular epithelial cells in the presence of low doses of delta-9-THC.[16]
Palak, it's not just in vitro, it's in vivo too. =)
There are also plenty of anecdotal stories and evidence of cannabis having great healing effects, not just for cancer but for a shitload of other things. Some fun vidoes of news reports:
And in regards to my previous blog post, there's a huge difference between those 2 paragraphs in terms of political consequences. Cannabis is a schedule 1 drug because it has no accepted medical use. The DEA argues that things like appetite stimulation and pain management are just symptom management and not treating a disease, so therefore cannabis has no medical value and should be schedule 1. But if a federal agency, like the NCI, says that cannabis can shrink tumors, then it has a medical benefit that isn't symptom management. This means that they have to move it to schedule 3, which will remove the DEA's ability to run around raiding medical marijuana dispensaries.
That's why the sentence they removed is so important:
In the practice of integrative oncology, the health care provider may recommend medicinal Cannabis not only for symptom management but also for its possible direct antitumor effect.
Vs
Though no relevant surveys of practice patterns exist, it appears that physicians caring for cancer patients who prescribe medicinal Cannabis predominantly do so for symptom management.
Knowing the politics you can see why it's so important to them that this sentence changes.
Played 100k cashgames on Pokerstars (love the set limit option) since around start of new year, here they are; (clarity for some posts on my hands) - I do play online cashgames when I don't have time for MTT's.
EDIT:
Now that it is a new day I had time to run more tests, safe mode, get feedback and try new file types it turns out this is a big FALSE positive. I waited a few weeks since the first file hoping to avoid a false positive and see if anyone else ran into problems but now that it all went down more last night it needed to be brought up. Thankfully it appears malwarebytes is worried about a rogue version of spybot - search and destroy, although I have no idea why it would think a .mp4 file would represent a rogue file. I guess it is basing it entirely off the modified name.
DeucesCracked has MALWARE in their files for the new series "Seach and Destroy" by Sthief09
This is god fucking damn ridiculous. I have not had any malware on my clean desktop since purchase 2 years ago, fresh everything and now I have 3 rogue malware from a paid for god damn poker site.
looking for a stake (50nlFR) + some movie reviewsby whamm!, March 30
all are on torrent sites, and all of decent xvid quality, just search well for it. pretty soon i think ill just link you to my simple forum website with the torrent already available for download there for the lazy guys here. all u do is register and dont even have to post stuff lol.
due date - hilarious and stnd zach hangover guy and robert downey jr.
exam - its all shot in one room the whole time, but very engaging thinking movie
cyrus - about 2nd relationships and chances and baggage, one good comedy drama for gf/wife
limitless - bradley cooper movie about a drug which can enhance receptors of brain to use 100% of it , guy uses its effects to its maximum potential, good thriller and bradley cooper's agent really knows what movies to pick for his client(even the A-team). highly recommended.
Looking for stake at 50nl FR:
-have beaten this limit and still do
-have all the tools to keep on doing so(hem, tableninja, tablescanner, handhistory subs from ptr)
-not promising insane profits but def will be +EV for both of us
-still playing less tables and bumhunting for the most part
-on average i'll probably be playing 800 to 2k hands tops daily
Reasons for wanting a stake:
-since coming back have been very risk averse, cut down on volume a lot and not playing optimal because of it and i find it is -ev in general
-i am overrolled for it but i also use my current BR for supplier payments so its kinda screwing with decisions a bit so i think its best i just withdraw my whole BR and start playing and making better business decisions as well
-I still have like a lot of time for poker, and it still profitable, but i have already abandoned any plans of moving up so this is where i will most probably remain.
i think 25bi will be enough since i am not 18 tabling at any point in the stake and ive lost all interest in fpp proing since losing my supernova status. any interested ppl just pm or post in this blog thanks guys.
