Blog's seem messed up and vids aren't working at all, sry TT)
I'll probably add more to this post later today but for now I just gotta share this vid addressing all this BS "Obama is a terrorist!" shit going on the last few days thanks to McPalin encouraging it as much as possible. So disgusting.
Here's some more interesting stuff for today, most disturbingly the sick fucks who are calling Obama a terrorist: + Show Spoiler +
McCain was speaking today in New Mexico, doing his usual personal attack on Barack Obama, as the stock market plummeted (you can see the ticker next to McCain on the screen, an apt reminder of what McCain and his fellow Republicans represent), and McCain asked the crowd "who is Barack Obama?" Immediately you hear someone yell "terrorist." McCain pauses, the audience laughs, and McCain continues on, not acknowledging, not chastising, not correcting. Oh, but McCain does say in the next sentence that he's upset about all the "angry barrage of insults."
The Washington Post reports on a similar moment at a Palin rally today:
"Now it turns out, one of his earliest supporters is a man named Bill Ayers," Palin said.
"Boooo!" said the crowd.
"And, according to the New York Times, he was a domestic terrorist and part of a group that, quote, 'launched a campaign of bombings that would target the Pentagon and our U.S. Capitol,'" she continued.
"Boooo!" the crowd repeated.
Story continues below
"Kill him!" proposed one man in the audience.
And it's spilling over into racial slurs against the press: + Show Spoiler +
And Dana Milbank highlights another incident from Tuesday:
Worse, Palin's routine attacks on the media have begun to spill into ugliness. In Clearwater, arriving reporters were greeted with shouts and taunts by the crowd of about 3,000. Palin then went on to blame Katie Couric's questions for her "less-than-successful interview with kinda mainstream media." At that, Palin supporters turned on reporters in the press area, waving thunder sticks and shouting abuse. Others hurled obscenities at a camera crew. One Palin supporter shouted a racial epithet at an African American sound man for a network and told him, "Sit down, boy."
Funny look inside a Palin debate watch party/rally where they laughed at Biden's emotional moment. + Show Spoiler +
American News Project went inside a pro-Palin rally set up by the McCain campaign to watch the vice presidential debate, where supporters booed moderator Gwen Ifill and laughed when Sen. Joe Biden got choked up talking about his first wife and daughter's deaths. Watch:
Overall it's getting dirty, nasty, sick, disgusting and vile and that's what McPalin wants, cause it's their only shot. Pretty fucked up.
SUNRISE, Fla. – The legend of Kimbo Slice was built by beating bums in boat yards and back alleys not far from here. It came crashing down Saturday courtesy of a quick punch from a pink-haired journeyman giving up two inches in height, four in reach and 30 pounds in muscle and might.
One simple shot sent Slice to the canvas and from there some guy named Seth Petruzelli needed just 12 punches and 14 seconds to put an end (we hope) to one of the great sporting charades of all time.
It was just a matter of time before Kimbo got exposed. He was little more than a character out of central casting, a bunch of addictive YouTube videos and a lot of insane hype by CBS, which made him a headliner before he made himself a fighter.
He was the Kimbo the Cash Machine, everyone lining up to exploit the lie that this was the baddest man on earth as long as he could walk through hand-picked tomato cans.
Only this time his match with 44-year-old Ken Shamrock, who hadn’t won a fight in over four years, fell apart when Shamrock cut his eye in a light training session Saturday and was deemed unfit to fight by state officials.
In the scramble to find a suitable replacement that Slice couldn’t possibly lose to, EliteXC considered Shamrock’s brother, Frank, who was there to be CBS’s color commentator, hadn’t fought lately due to a broken arm and would have given up around 45 pounds. Despite all this, Frank likely would have submitted Kimbo in the first round.
When that matchup couldn’t happen (EliteXC said state officials wouldn’t clear him, Frank said they did but CBS blocked it), EliteXC promoters turned to Petruzelli. The Fort Myers, Fla., native had been dumped by the big-league UFC, was just 2-2 since 2004, had recently taken a year off to start a business, weighed just 205 (to Kimbo’s 235) and was so lightly regarded he was competing in the non-televised undercard.

Despite the oft-repeated propaganda that Slice was a man of “courage” for taking a fight with this smaller guy who was likely to stand and trade punches anyway, EliteXC paid Kimbo a cash bonus just to get him to step into the cage.
“We made it up to him,” said Jeremy Lappen, EliteXC’s head of fight operations. He wouldn’t disclose the amount.
For the myth of Slice, the matchup may not be a 44-year-old on a losing streak or someone from the broadcast booth, but really, what was the worst thing that could happen?
“It didn’t feel too flush,” Petruzelli said of the first punch that apparently didn’t even need to land squarely to fell Kimbo.
Make no mistake – or listen to the EliteXC spin – this was a disaster for Slice and the company. “This is MMA, all the best have lost,” said Lappen. True, but Kimbo wasn’t defeated by a crafty Brazilian jiu-jitsu master. He wasn’t caught in a submission by an experienced wrestler. He didn’t lose a decision after a three-round brawl.
Those would be understandable considering his novice status.
Kimbo was KTFO by a guy he absolutely towered over yet was willing to bang with him anyway. Not that Kimbo did any banging. Slice charged him (“He was like a truck,” Petruzelli said) but he never actually landed a punch.
In the end, Kimbo’s hand speed, defense and chin proved incapable against even an average mixed martial artist. Which was pretty much what every hardcore fan had predicted.
Not that CBS didn’t keep up with the Slice willing to fight, “anyone, anywhere, at anytime.” This was a 100 percent true statement if “anyone, anywhere, at anytime” means “no one any good, anywhere, ever.”
Slice seemed stunned and a bit saddened at the turn of events. After it was over, he initially began wrestling the referee. Whether that was a protest for the decision or because he was dazed isn’t certain. Then he walked around the cage complaining to fans about the stoppage.
Later he walked out on his CBS interview (“Kimbo?” asked a stunned Gus Johnson), although not before inviting America to an after party at a local nightclub. Then he showed up 45 minutes late for the main press conference, where he gave a quick statement and bailed.
“I got my first black eye,” he laughed. He later turned to Petruzelli and joked, “You knocked me out in front of my family; that’s (expletive) up.”
Through it all Slice remained the only likable character of this foolish farce. He wasn’t the one claiming he was the best in the world. He was just a working-class dude who figured out how to beat the system and cash in on his 15 minutes of fleeting fame.
He’s got kids to feed and bills to pay and right to the end, he was milking bonuses out of the promotion, a one-time homeless man holding the Tiffany Network’s prime-time programming hostage. Only in America.
He was the grand actor in the middle of a three-ring circus, a tall tale that would eventually come tumbling down under the bright glare of reality.
Where Slice goes from here is anyone’s guess. He can’t rebuild his reputation without stepping up in competition from the guy who just beat him in seconds. He can’t headline a card and have anyone believe he’s legit. He can’t claim he, “just got caught” when it wasn’t some wild, roundhouse right or sneaky arm-bar that did him in.
The truth was always coming for Kimbo. Saturday it arrived sooner rather than later, the money train grinding to a halt courtesy of a smaller, less heralded fighter that no one can claim is some elite champion.
No, this was it. It’ll never be the same, not for the fighter and not, perhaps, for his entire promotion that just lost its signature star on top of the $58 million it’s burned the past two years.
Afterward, EliteXC execs tried to paint a bright future but admitted they needed a drink. Lower-level employees used gallows humor about finding new jobs.
Kimbo just said he was going home to see his kids.
Finally had a 10+ buyin session. Sadly that just basiclyy put me back to where I was before I'd started losing consistently, lolz.
HEM still isn't working so I don't have graphs or exact amounts or anything. Gotta go try and fix that now.
Punched the wall while angry last night and hurt my hand - hard to type and use the mouse T_T. So stupid. Never doing that again (or at least looking for a softer wall rite? heh jk).
I'm completely obsessed with the polls on the election lately and check em like 20 times a day to see if there's anything new. Also trying to do more volunteering to knock on doors. Since Colorado is a battleground state I really feel like I gotta do as much as I can. I'd feel like shit if Obama lost here. The 3 days before election day I plan to take off from work and spend 24/7 volunteering. And on election day I'm gonna help get people to the polls. Man, I can't wait for this to be over, hehe.
Anyway, finally a non political blog. Finally 10 buyin session. Finally played and didn't run like complete ass. Finally!
I spilled water on my table tonight and it went under my computer, and due to being drunk and angry (hence the water spill) I didn't notice the water for a good 30-45 minutes. Then I tried to boot my computer and it was making weird sounds. Wouldn't start. I took it apart (laptop) and tried to dry it. Then I got it to start, but it would start opening windows and then crash. I punched some walls and pillows (pillows were smarter to punch) and eventually I got windows started. But I tried to open HoldemManger and it wouldn't work. I rebooted and now I'm still getting issues. The internet symbol just FINALLY came on after 5 minutes (though I could open this page before the symbol came up) and I'm hopeful that after I post this HEM will work. God, plz work plz!
EDIT: Shit, i can't find HEM anywhere beyond my desktop shortcut, and it tells me I need to find the .exe and set it as adminstrator running or something. I can't find it!!! I am doing searches and it only finds the shortcut. wtf, everything else is fine... did I lose the HEM file? i'm so confused T_T
I went to bed early last night (10pm) which led me to wake up at 4am and lie in bed for an hour wishing I could fall asleep again. I eventually gave up and came downstairs to read the latest political news, and I saw this crazy piece from the McSpin Campaign saying that they've got Obama right where they want him while they wave the white flag of surrender in Michigan:
Strategists for John McCain insisted late Thursday afternoon that it was Barack Obama, not the Arizona Republican, who was on the defensive when it came to the electoral map....
"When we look at the electoral map and we look at Ohio, North Carolina, Virginia, Florida, Missouri, and Indiana, all states that Republicans have been winning repeatedly in the past in presidential elections, all states where we are tied or ahead in current public polling that puts us at 260 electoral votes," said Strimple. "We are currently competing aggressively in Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Colorado, Pennsylvania, Nevada, New Hampshire and New Mexico, where we have the combination of any of those states to get ten more electoral votes in order to be successful and have Mr. McCain the next President of the United States."
Seriously, where do they come up with this crazy shit? I guess to the avg person it doesn't sound crazy, but to a political junkie like me who is reading all the polls and spends hours messing with the electoral map, this sounds like lunacy. After reading that article I thought maybe I'd missed something, so I spent the last hour going over maps and re-checking the polls and I feel confident in saying my initial reaction was right. I'll save you guys the trouble of hunting all the info down and I'll lay it all out for you right here.
State of the Polls/Map
First off let me explain the situation. We started the General Election with 15 "swing states" this year, but a lot of them have moved into "lean" or "likely" categories now. The states the McSpinners listed are basically all of the swing states that we started with, but they are listing states as possibilites for McCain which I think JohnnyMac has no chance of winning. People tend to break the swing states into the "Big 3" (FL, OH, PA), the "New Two" (CO, VA) and then "the rest". I broke the rest down a bit further for my purposes as "Old Red" (NC, MO, IN, NV), "New Blue" (MN, WI, NH), and "Barely Swing" (IA, NM, MI).
So the big 3 are the ones we always hear about and normally elections are decided by them, but this year McCain COULD win OH/FL and still lose the election. The new 2 are probably the most important states, cause if Obama wins 1 of them he will almost certainly win the election, even if he loses OH and FL. Old Red are states that have gone Republican at least the last 2 elections (and some the last 4), and these are states that Obama has put into play when they should be solid red. New Blue are states that have gone blue consistently in the past and McCain has put into play, though not as intensely as Obama did for Old Red as you will see soon. And lastly Barely Swing are just as the title suggests. They are states which were part of the original 15 but are now very solidly moved over.
Below is a spreadsheet where I compilied the poll results from Real Clear Politics (RCP) and fivethirtyeight.com (538). When you look at it you'll see why I think the McCain Camp is crazy.
Obv BO = Obama, JM = McCain. So "3.3 BO" means the avg has Obama ahead by 3.3 points and "58% JM"
means McCain is projected a 58% chance of winning. Also States with an asterisk (*) next to their
names are listed as swing on RCP. Lastly, I used the Trend-Adjusted Avg on 538.
See why I think they're crazy? They say that they are going to win OH, FL, VA, NC, MO, IN... I am willing to give them NC, MO, IN since those will be big upsets for Obama to win (even though it's literally neck-n-neck there), but OH, FL, VA are all going towards Obama right now! At the very least they have to admit OH, FL are tossups and VA is looking like it will go blue. So their states to get to 260 are ridiculous.
But then they get straight up loco homie... They say they're aggressive in IA, NM, MN, WI, NH, PA, NV, CO... LOLZZZ! First off, IA and NM are in Barely Swing cause they're pretty much locks for Obama, so I dunno wtf those states are doing on the McCain camps list. Next they mention MN, WI, NH, PA as if they have a big chance there, when Obama has a better chance in NC than McCain does in any of those 4. Lastly they have CO and NV, which are the only states I will accept they are aggressive with a chance in, though it's going well for Obama right now.
Anyway, let's close with some pictures of potential maps. First, let's give McCain the benefit of the doubt and allocate him OH, FL, IN, MO, NC, NV (2 of the big 3 and all of the Old Red). Obv we give IA/NM/MI to Obama. That leaves the New Two and New Blue. I think we can safely give New Blue to Obama, so that leaves us with CO and VA. McCain has to win them both, Obama has to win 1, and while they're tossups they both are trending Obama.
Note that for the above map we gave OH and FL to McCain despite the fact that Obama is winning in both states right now. We also gave him NV which Obama is winning.
Now let's just go according to the polls and allocate votes, and this is what you get:
Ah, hello landslide, 338 to 200. Here we only gave IN/MO/NC to McCain out of the 15 swing states, according to current polling. This is a very possible outcome.
So what should you look for when polls are coming out? Obviously pay attention to OH and FL because if Obama wins either of these he's going to win the election. Next pay attention to CO and VA. If Obama wins either of these he is probably going to win the election, but it depends on him keeping hold of MN, WI, NH. If McCain steals any of those 3 states Obama will have to counter by stealing some Old Red or winning both CO and VA (to win w/out OH and FL).
Soooo, OH, FL, CO, and VA are the most important states, with MN, WI, NH following. At least that's my view. And if Obama starts to pick off some Old Red then McCain is in deep shit.
BUT DON'T LET ANY OF THIS FOOL YOU!!!!
Despite the good numbers now, we still have 32 days to go and a LOT can happen. McCain can still turn this around so if you want Obama to win you should be out there volunteering at least 1 time a week (ideally more like 2-3 times). You should be registered to vote (best with a mail-in-ballot) and doing everything you can to help your friends and family get registered. And you can't get apathetic and forget the reasons you were excited in the first place!
I found my face in my hands many times last night when Palin started answering a question in the debate... wait, I mean when she dodged a question and just talked about Alaska and energy. It was obvious that she'd spent her time in Arizona memorizing a bunch of talking points and attack lines to produce during the debate, and so she just made sure to go through all of those points and try to throw in an attack line whenever possible. That's why we got to see this horrible flop of an attack line from her:

Rather than this genuine zinger from Biden:

On the other hand Biden gave the performance of his life. He didn't talk excessively - actually I think Palin took more time on the clock cause she just wouldn't shut up even if she wasn't making a point. His answers were clear and concise and showed his understanding of the policies and gave us specifics on the plans and why they were important. He focused on McCain while Palin tried to pull him into the mud.

While Palin is just trying to win America over with a wink and a smile...

There's also the fact that she had a few gaffes while Biden, the supposed gaffe king, had a clean night. She got the name of the general in Afghanistan wrong and also got his position on the war there wrong. She said that McCain was in favor of bankruptcy judges having the power to rework mortgages when McCain is totally opposed. And then she kept up the usual lies with things like saying that Obama's health care plan was a takeover by the Federal Govt, which isn't true, or that he was going to painfully raise taxes.
I think she did better in the debate than she did in the sit down interviews - why? Cause it's a great format for her. A bunch of topics, 2 people sharing the time, and no followups. So she could just throw out memorized talking points and attack lines and it's all good. In the interviews there was more depth and time for her to mess up, and boy did she. So yeah, she was better in the debates than the interviews, which I expected. She didn't exceed expectations. But I think Pat Buchannan said it well when he pointed out that if you liked her you loved this performance, if you disliked her this made you hate her, and if you're in the middle then who knows.
This is pretty funny:
Anyway, Letterman had a great top 10 last night, so let's close with that =)
