Video by longple, July 11

sup dudes, i made a video of a 50min session i played

there is alot of spots and i talk a shitton in it, and i also miss alot of spots

its a 4 tabling vid, 2 tables HU against a reg ive played alot of HU with, and 2 SH tables

the stakes are 25/50SEK ~ 5/10$ or 3/6€

alot of interesting spots, i think i explain myself pretty well

but i would like to say sorry for sounding so fucking tired and boring in the video, im more fun then this and i prolly will put more energy in the next vid, i kinda just sound bitter rambling on and on about serious stuff in this video.

and random whine in the end about my results the last 2 months, wich really wasnt meant like whine i just reandomly pulled up HEM and started talking about my latest results before ending the video, not sure why it just happened when i wanted to check todays results ^^

anyways, i miss some spots at the end, for example the last hand i raise 97 IP against sexypekkas 3bet+cbet on KQ6, where i just expect him to fold alot of air but i still dont like my play cuz he wont fold AT AJ etc and his 3b range really hits that board, but its not terrible, i raise alot IP and he will just muck alot there so w/e

here it is

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=KSQCN63D

hope ull like it, even though im tired as hell when i recorded it cuz i sat and struggled for like 6 hours to get it working

enjoy!

Synthetic Organ by palak, July 08

A man who developed cancer in his windpipe has gotten a new trachea, grown entirely from his own stem cells over two days in a laboratory in Sweden. The operation is remarkable because it's the first time a completely synthetically grown organ has been transplanted into a patient, The Guardian reported. "The synthetic trachea was created by growing the patient's own stem cells on an artificial 'scaffold', which British scientists helped design. Windpipes have been grown from stem cells before, but only using the collagen 'skeletons' of donated tracheas ... Professor Paolo Macchiarini, an Italian expert in regenerative medicine who led the groundbreaking operation, designed the Y-shaped synthetic trachea scaffold with Professor Alexander Seifalian, from University College London." The success of the operation means that patients who need organ transplants could conceivably be able to have them specially grown instead of having to wait for a donor.

http://www.theatlanticwire.com/global...rgan-successfully-transplanted/39733/

  ...
They started several years ago by using a donor trachea as a scaffold to build a new trachea. They stripped away all the cells lining and enclosing the donor trachea, leaving behind only the cartilage-containing skeleton. Using a shoebox-sized bioreactor developed by Harvard Bioscience Inc. of Holliston, Mass., they then seeded some of the patient's own stem cells into the scaffold.

The whole thing was mounted on a rotating drum, similar to a rotisserie for barbecuing chickens. The drum alternately dipped it into a nutrient medium that provided everything needed for the cells to grow and proliferate, and then lifted it out so the cells could get oxygen.
...
Instead of using a donor trachea for the scaffold, materials scientist Alexander Seifalian of University College London built one in a lab. The base was a glass tube with dimensions obtained from three-dimensional images of Beyene's trachea. Then Seifalian used a medical plastic called polyethylene glycol to build a scaffold around it. The plastic is very porous, allowing the stem cells to grow into it. The scientists put hormones in the nutrient soup to induce the stem cells to change into the cells normally found in the lining and exterior of a trachea. After two days in the bioreactor, the trachea was implanted in Beyene, where the cells continued to grow and proliferate. The whole process took less than a week.
...
Researchers have previously used virtually identical techniques to produce synthetic blood vessels, urethras and bladders. The common denominator in all of those is that the synthetic organs are basically hollow tubes or, in the case of the bladder, a hollow sphere. They may have to have the ability to stretch or shrink slightly in response to natural conditions, but they really have no other function.

Producing a more sophisticated organ, such as a heart, will require researchers to make something that actually carries out a function. In the case of a heart, it would have to beat and open and close valves at the appropriate times.

Also, noted Dr. Alan J. Russell, a tissue engineer at the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh, such solid organs have much thicker tissue and thus need an internal system of blood vessels to supply oxygen and nutrients. That is a far more difficult task.

"That's still years away," said Atala, whose team is trying to make synthetic kidneys. "Ninety percent of the patients on a transplant list are waiting on a kidney. We are absolutely working very hard on that."

BPT here I go! by tutz_x, July 08

http://www.brasilpokertour.com

Just decided that I'm gonna play the BPT Main Event! I don't have this money on my bankroll so I'm gonna have to buy-in with my own money. The Main Event costs $1,450.00 and its expected around 600 players. My dad has an apartament very close (3 miles away) to the Hotel Transamerica (place were the tournment is gonna happen) and I already bought the ticket to Sao Paulo (I live in Brasilia D.C.), it costs around $80, so thats OK.

I'm excited about this, hope I run good!
13 days left, lets do this!

HU advice need by LsDDeaD, July 07

Hello. It's been strange these days - US players banned from PS and FTP, later on FTP got banned..For some time now I'm watching some good NLHE players moving to PLO, so to make it brief - poker is changing. And I think it's a good time to consider some change in my poker life aswell.
What I'm thinking about is investment - investment in my poker play.I don't rely on poker about money, but the truth is that I have been in this game for too long and maybe I should give myslef a chance and try and take a bit more professional look to my game.
So what I'm thinking about is starting playing HU in PS.What I need is information so I could be able to decide if it's worthy for me to make that investment or not.
I am not a multitabler.I enjoy playing 1 table 2 at most. Also I'm willing to start from 100NL, but considering my lack of experience maybe I would accept to play 50NL.Also I think that if i make this step I will definetly make it with some sort of long term coaching.
So for now I would ask you to help me to do my math - I want to make some calculations how much money should I need to make this happen, because this will be the main factor to decide weather I'll do it or not.
To sum it up - I want to start playing HU at PS at 100NL(maybe 50NL), I want to do it by playing 1 or at most 2 table and I want to make a long term coaching deal.Could you help me with the approximate sum that I'll need to begin with - how many Buy-ins for the limit given + how much do you think I'm gonna spend for a reasonable coaching for a reasonable period of time?
Thanks

Vancouver by gororokgororok, July 07

I'm thinking about running an internship as the final part of my study in Vancouver, for about half a year. I'm very much wondering what you Americans and Canadians (or others) have to say about the city. Or would you rather go for something exotic? Vancouver obviously has more well known companies which is good for your resume. My knowlegde about the city is basicly zero aside from people saying it's an awesome city.

free coaching and 2 awsome vids by longple, July 07

yo (edit: forget the 2 videos thingy in the main title ill post those later, they are way to good to be posted in a post like this, they deserve a own post)

late 2008/beginning of 2009 i started posting on LP, and i made my first blogpost in january 09, back then i played 10NL

i climed to playing 100nl 200nl in 2010, and now 2011 i started off with playing 2/4-5/10

the last couple of months ive been playing almost only 5/10+ on a couple of different networks

this is my overall winrate from the last year of poker, 98% of these hands are played between 1/2$ and 25/50$ (ive never played higher then that, but my sample on 10/20 and 25/50 is not big at all as i havent really taken that jump just yet)
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/057adce75c7755c689b8344268e0713d.jpg

i havent really coached much, but ive coached some in swedish and i enjoy talking poker with people, and im thinking of maybe starting to offer some coaching for struggling players mostly on 0.5/1-3/6$, maybe even 5/10

and maybe some smart 50nl players out there, im looking for to get some interesting discussion out of this for my own winnings and interests aswell, from my coaching and just not plugging "standard" microstakes leaks not to sound to badmannered or harsch or anything

i dont think im the right choice for a microstakesplayer as they probably can get the same amount of help from any random video/smallstakescoach out there anyways i dont look to coach microguys

i havent coached in english before, so i thought about maybe starting off with some freecoaching to hardworking/struggling LP'rs that wanna climb the stakes

im starting off with stroggos, gonna give him maybe 2-3 sessions starting off tomorrow, he recorded a 45min 200NL video that we are gonna go trhough together/just talk poker randomly as a whole

if i like the whole coachingthingy i might start charging for it for those who are interested but mostly i wanna do it for fun/i think it can be good for me aswell to talk poker, especially for example if im in a downswing i think it can help alot to focus maybe more on some1 elses game and just talk good poker as i think even over peroids where i play my C-game i think i still can analyse spots of some1else to the fully anyways.

basically I'd like to have something to fall back on when im not in the best mood to play!

So im thinking this, after im done with stroggos id like to take maybe 2 more people under my wings and offer them 2-3 hours of freecoaching

to give me feedback basically as a coach + i wanna give something back to LP

PS im thinking of maybe making a video or 2 for LP aswell, and i wonder how the fuck to do that basically? ive done videos before with camstudio or camtasia and some other program i think, mostly they get 1gig+ in size, and i wanna know how to make good quality videos of maybe max 2-300mb with a good program, can any1 maybe help me for this?

even if ur a microplayer id love to give u an hour coaching/looking over ur game if u do help me with this, first to give me a good enough advice to get this working wins this side competition

PM me or write in the commentsection about urself and ur goals as a player, basically why i should coach just you for free and i will pick out 2, maybe 3 people, its important that u try to motivate and tell me alittle bit of ur story as a player for me to do good picks for this

hope this will be of interest for people, stay tuned for some videos from me hopefully

cheers lp <3

really gay live hand by JSquids, July 06

played live last nite in the back of a resteraunt (a weekly game)

its 1/3 and 9 handed. i got 100bb

i have been playing with these guys for about 3 or 4 hours or so, pretty sober so i can really pay attention... i get into a hand with an loose/aggro player who had forced me to fold 3 or 4 times in the night. almost all of those times were when id make a late pf raise, get called and c/f the flop. he was a thinking player who pretty much trys to sense weakness...

so i get A7s in the CO+2 and i make it $12 to go.... (this is somewhat standard small raise in this game) i get called by the guy... flop comes down J 9 3. i check and he bets $30. i call. the turn comes another 9. he bets $70 now and i call. at this point im like so sure hes got absolutly shit. so the river comes its a 5. he shoves all in for remaining $150... i think for like 2 seconds and say call and insta flip over A high.

he was going to muck his cards when i said call but i showed to fast and he realized his bluff hand actually beat my bluff catcher... he showed up with A10...... if i wouldnt have flipped my A over i woulda took down the pot since he is like an insta mucker..... fucking god damn it........

so gayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy i got up n left i was too tilted to reload

Selling ME Action by jchysk, July 05

I'm out in Vegas for the summer and I've decided to play the WSOP Main. I'm cutting it pretty close but I want to sell out up to 50% of my action at $125 per 1%.
I've played over 10k tournaments online with marginal results. Maybe 80-100k profit lifetime. Screennames are:
jchysk on FTP
jchysk3027 on Stars
jchysk on Cake
I've had a couple WSOP cashes, and various other cashes in other tournament series, but nothing ever significant. I have quite a bit of experience with live play and I've got a really solid combination of reading players and live tournament understanding. Also, my mathematical abilities + knowledge are of the highest tier in the poker community.

As far as reputation goes: I've been a long time member of the LP community. thewh00sel or shAAArk can vouch for me on LP, and half a dozen well known pros would also be willing to vouch for my trustworthiness IRL.
I live in the US so I can't accept online money and will only take cash from people also here in Vegas.
PM or post if you're interested. TY.
