I've been getting into live poker recently at my local casino. the games there are very soft (nl200). And the tables are purely fish, i'd say about as easy as nl5 or possibly nl2. but the rake is 10% on every pot, with a $10 cap. which is insanely high. I can beat 1/2 6max online with a 1BB/100 winrate, do you think these live games are beatable with that amount of rake?
At first I gave people way too much credit and folded to every raise with 1p type hands or trying to fold people out with draws. After I realized people called my c/r with bottom pair, it clicked.
I just started betting every top pair hand and got looked up with the most retarded stuff, or I'd pot flop pot turn and people would fold a 1/4th pot river. Printing monies! Or rather, finding change!
I cant believe I actually folded to people with top pair...
But hey, 4 tables isnt actually that bad. I like being able to see more hands =D
The Joe Rogan podcasts & 2 Moviesby whamm!, July 25
Been consistently listening(and downloading old ones) to these podcasts by Joe Rogan and his friends and it seems like a pretty good balance between intelligent, informative conversations with your buddies and just the right amount of retarded bullshit to make it light. He's a huge proponent of weed and psychedelics but he doesn't preach it all the time. I definitely recommend downloading everything in the archive and I tried listening to it while jogging or driving and it's also great for that too.
Still downloading these two movies, but both look pretty good so far and with the absolute crap thats out there for the past months these two are probably the best you can watch and download
After Shock - (to be updated)looks very interesting
Kidnapped - (still downloading)foreign movie about kidnapping
bas ruten should've picked up two broomsticks and did this to those bouncers...badass arnis skillz
i played my first mtt 2 months ago and played about 15 since then. Finally made my first final table a week ago and finished in 8th for about 8.3k($350+50 w rebuys with 906 entries). I think I'll try out foxwoods mega stack tourney series which is in about 2 weeks. peace and ill update again if i make it deep in another live tourney.
Favourite anime full-length moviesby Kapol, July 24
Since I started watching movies on a mass scale around three years ago I became an anime fan. I don't watch any series, but from time to time I look up a film that looks interesting or has good notes at IMDb. I'd like to share my opinions on the ones I've watched and I'll be more than happy to hear some recommendations from you, guys.
OK, so off we go.
Let's start with Studio Ghibli. To me they are the best animation studio in the world, excelling even above the worldwide-known Pixar and Disney. My favourite director is (of course ) Hayao Miyazaki. Since present, I've seen the following anime he has made:
1. Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi (Spirited Away) - 8/10. Actually I don't remember much of it, because it's been over 2 years now since I've watched it, but I'm sure any anime lover has to look it up.
2. Tonari no Totoro (My Neighbour Totoro) - 8/10. Lighthearted, funny story. Good especially for younger audiences (but enjoyable to anyone).
3. Mononoke-hime (Princess Mononoke) - 8/10. Don't remember much of it either.
4. Kaze no tani no Naushika (Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind) - 7/10. Liked it. No masterpiece, though.
5. Majo no takkyûbin (Kiki's Delivery Service) - 7/10. Same as above.
6. Kurenai no buta (Porco Rosso) - 5/10. The worst I've so far seen from Miyazaki. Didn't enjoy the story, got bored quickly.
7. Tenkû no shiro Rapyuta (Castle in the Sky) - 6/10. A tad better than Porco Rosso, but no fireworks as well.
8. Hauru no ugoku shiro (Howl's Moving Castle) - 8+/10. The best Miyazaki film IMO. A great story, superb animation, lovable characters and lots of fresh, good ideas.
Other Studio Ghibli movies:
1. Mimi wo sumaseba (Whisper of the Heart) - 7/10. Somewhat romantic story, OK if you like innocent romance.
2. Hotaru no haka (Grave of the Fireflies) - 8+/10. A gem. Beautiful, heart wrenching story. A must see.
Other movies in random order:
1. Toki o kakeru shôjo (The Girl who Leapt through Time) - 7/10.
2. The Animatrix - 8/10. Why didn't the Wachowski brothers produced just the original Matrix movie and this very well-done piece of animation as an addition? The best part of it is the 'New Renaissance' section.
3. Mind Game - 7/10.
4. Memorîzu (Memories) - 7/10. It's divided into three separate stories. 1st is best IMO (8/10), then come the other two, which I'd give a note of 6 or 7. Therefore the final note is 7.
5. Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem - 6/10. Remember the Daft Punk videoclips with blue people that made up a story? This is more of their music with a full-length storyline.
6. Evangerion shin gekijôban: Jo (Evangelion New Theatrical Version: Beginning) - 6/10. Didn't excite me as much as I hoped. Probably would have liked it better had I watched the series first. To make things clear, you don't have to know anything about Evangelion to watch this movie. This is allegedly the first few episodes connected into a single feature film. Supposedly there is a sequel out already and there are two other parts in the making (it is said that there will be a alternate ending than the one from the series).
7. Dead Leaves - 7/10. This is one weird piece of anime. Pretty funny and bizarre.
8. Hadashi no Gen (Barefoot Gen) - 8+/10. Another weep-inducing Japanese production. This time about Hiroshima. And based on a true story.
9. Kumo no mukô, yakusoku no basho (The Place Promised in Our Early Days) - 7/10.
10. Byôsoku 5 senchimêtoru (5 Centimeters per Second) - 8+/10. Same director as No. 9. EXCELLENT animation, I think the best I've ever seen. I warn that the story is very sentimental and romantic, so this movie might not apply to everyone.
I'll end by reminding you that I'm looking forward to some anime recommendations (please don't waste your time on recommending series, I won't watch them anyway ).
Longple gave me an hour of coaching in exchange for some video help that I gave him earlier on his blog. Even though I'm a microdonk he still came through and not only coached me for the hour, but gave it a really good effort too. I walked away from the session feeling way smarter about how I played and I feel more confident about my ability to eventually reach small stakes if I keep working at it. I highly recommend purchasing coaching from this guy if he ever offers it.
Ok so I decided to start grinding more seriously and I'm looking for a good rakeback /vip room that offers like 50% rakeback so I can get more motivation to play
Bc I'll start my regrind from the micros I'll be able to rake ~1.5k for the first few months...
I'm looking for something safe , with descent traffic 6max , good rakeback etc..
I already have some good deals for Entraction but IDK anything about this network.. does anybody from lp play there? how are games on low/mid stakes ?
I'm thinking between Entraction,Microgaming (not sure if i can get their 50% rb vip level at current stakes) and Ipoker (goor traffic but I belive their vip sys sucks) but ... idk but I would love to hear some of your guys suggestions
I heard that ongame lowers your rakeback if you are wining player bc of their essence rakeback system.
I play 1/2 FR, 2/4 soon, but I have no tournament experience. Do you guys think it's +EV for me to start playing in the Sunday millions?
I've only played in a few tournaments in the past year, I often get impatient when playing them, and I usually regret wasting my time when busting but I imagine I'll improve in those areas as I play more
Hello LP, some of you guys might remember my name from TL and if you do then sup dude you're one of the few TL 'veterans' :D
I've already watched quite a few poker coaching videos, but even tho that i'm running really bad, i sure that i'm missing way too many spots and that i probably give too much credits to my opponents. Most of the videos that i watched were something like 2years old, but do you guys believe that micro stakes really changed since then or does theres a specific series i should watch again and try to find out if i missed any key information?
list of the videos that i have watched so far: MicroStakes Strategy by frosty012 (this one is free and legal since it's on his blogspot), and all the following series from DeucesCracked: Coaching Kristy season1, Real Life Micro NL-Grinder: Unlimited Texas Hold Them, From The Ground Up!, Moving on Up Full Ring.
Can you guys suggest me any really good 6max micro stakes video coaching series that would help me improve more? and if not anything specific, which website between deucescracked/bluefirepoker/cardrunners/dragthebar/leggopoker has the best coaches or content for 6max micro stakes NLHE and should i pay 30$/month for it or should i just focus on applying what i learned already from the videos i've seen?
One last thing, everyone keeps saying that the most important thing in micro stakes poker is value betting.. but since i almost never get to go to showdown when i hit monsters or good pair.. should i keep betting nearly pot on flop and turn (depending on stack sizes of course.. if he's not 100blinds deep i would bet less) or even people playing NL2 have an idea of bet sizes and therefore won't call 90% pot cbet but would call 70%/65%?
also tell me if i should post any HEM graphics that would help you finding out something that i'm doing wrong.
thanks
hey guys.
I'm new to poker, started about a month ago and lost all my free $25 on party and started on everst with free $50 again yesterday and lost a bunch. Since I suck so much and I didn't get into longples free coaching i'm just gonna post here before I play today and see if I can get any help from you guys.
Here are my crappy results from yesterday -36bb/100hands http://i.imgur.com/gtQ5S.jpg
I was calling allins with top pair and shit and tried to play with 6 tables when I'll probly lose playing with 1 table.
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks
Meaning I'd need to play about 300k hands or 10k hands a day at the current winrate.
Withdrew money today so I have $75 in my account.
My friend and I are going to have a prop bet though on this and wondering what odds would seem fair for both of us? Wouldn't be a sizeable prop just something to add a bit more excitement into this :D
Plan is NL2 upto $150, then play NL2 during the day and Nl5 during the night when the tables are fishier. (with dropping back to Nl2 if I fall below $120 everytime.
So after tilting away about 95% of my roll yday I thought "NO MAN FUCK THIS I AINT BUSTOING", so I built it up again starting with 1.5 BI's. Some yday, most today. Todays garphament
